This topic is comprehensively covered here:

I cancelled my account at the end of June after 3mths because the daytime throttling impacted on my work, I suspect the same could be said of any cheap uncapped 384 account from what I've read - MWeb included. Speeds at night weren't bad and I reckon a dedicated downloader could move at least 40GB/mth.

I'm currently on a Telkom 384 5Gb account supplemented with a Axxess Lite 5GB with top up.

Sorry I was not aware of that. but thanks for the info. ;)

It's good if you want to download most of your stuff at night and am happy with just fast browsing during the day... it's a good product and the support are always eager to help.

Well I am at work in day time.
So mostly after hours, and a few downlowds going through the day when I am at work. Would that be sufficiant for me then?

From my experience you can expect daytime downloads to run at 25% of max at best, max speed (for downloads) was only possible after 10 pm. However, from reports here, the degree of throttling seems to vary based on your location.

My recommendation would be to try it for a month (R196.00) - you'll see within 2 weeks if it does not meet your expectations (don't live in hope that the performance will improve, it won't) and you can cancel before the next months billing - check T&C for the date you must cancel by.

Good idea, will do, does this service also run on Seacom?

Good question, before the latest SEACOM disaster I would have said yes but after a few glitches my Lite account is running fine so Axxess (or IS) must have sourced bandwith from somewhere. Don't know the impact on the 384 uncapped accounts as I had already cancelled.

BTW - Axxess bills the uncapped account for a calender month so if you sign up now you will only get 2 weeks for your R196.00, contact them for the best way to order it - maybe you can use a Lite account in the meantime @ R19.00 GB.

Well I am currently using my old FNB connect account and has been a little on the slow side I must say I think they also run off Seacom.
Was thinking it might be good to try the lite and have heard that lite is very good. I saw that I can sign up with them immediately or only from next month on their website. so no problem with that if I want it for a full month.
