Axxess Uncapped Express?! Help

how can ppl download 800 odd Gigs in one month

Well, I had a bumper month last month.. pretty much maxed out my connection all the time and I only managed to download 600 gigs.. Thats 200 gig shy of those "top downloaders"

now don't get me wrong, I happy with my 600 gigs. MORE than happy, ecstatic actually. I just want to know how those guys do 800 gigs on a 384k account..

Ok feb is a short month, but even if I add an extra 60 gigs (I download about 19 gigs on a week day) I am still a full 140 gigs short!

Maybe theyre on faster lines?

You're forgetting uploaded data, which is *not* limited during the day time, so add another 50kb/s over 31 days and you can get that easily.

ok, so how quick is activation? if i sign up right now, how long till i get my logon details?

You set them when you create the account, activation is instant ( literally ) on a credit card, not sure about other forms of payment.

if thats the case why do they call it the 'top downloaders list' ?
correct me If I'm wrong but I thought the top downloaders list....was for data downloaded and does not include data uploaded.

We've been selling the EXACT same product for less for a few weeks now and it seems no one has noticed.
Is there something I should be doing or are you all too keen on Axxess and Openweb?

For R20 price difference you're not going to get anyone to switch over to you.

Also, R45 for 1 gigabyte? Helloooooo, McFly! Anyone home? Where have you guys been for last few months. You're only going to attract suckers with that price, or maybe that's who you're after.

I really give webafrica credit to actually using these forums because I really dont know how an ISP can handle all the abuse people throw at them, people who dont stop to think, people like you.

Ever thought how much the Internet Solutions resells the express accounts for ? Do you expect the ISP's to run at a loss ? Gamco sells the 384 express account for R1197, axxess for 999, and imagine for R20 less. I see a trend in a pricing here.

Man, I miss my uncapped account. Telkom need to hurry up and lay some cables to my new complex :(

Maybe you should read my post again. I never said anything negative about the uncapped pricing in general. Imagine's pricing of their uncapped offering at R20 less than that of Axxess is not going to lure anyone away from a well-established ISP like Axxess to some unknown ISP that could be operating out of someone's bedroom for all we know.

My comment was purely about the per gig pricing on their standard adsl packages. I think we all agree that R45 per gigabyte is a ridiculous price to pay these days for ADSL bandwidth given the sub R30 prices we are beginning to regularly see being offered out there.

Yup - we all know our per GB pricing is too high... this price was put together based on old reseller pricing.
I have since been brought in to specifically deal with all of this and see if the 'consumer market' is one that we wish to enter. As such, I do have a considerable amount of free reign to try out things as we can also run at zero profit on this. The next 3 years this market place will be completely different. There are many reasons for it that we all either agree or don't... but we all agree it has to change.

My initial 'toe in the water' was with the uncapped accounts as they are almost zero administration costs and we have the staff already to manage the calls/support lines. The idea being not to get people to transfer but to get new sales. It's amazing to see that so many people didn't know that all of these accounts are identical and anyone can resell them.
My second move was to offer amazing reseller pricing (not on our website) so that we can concentrate on improving our network infrastructure and software... yes, as one of the very few companies that do own and run their systems, rather than just reselling, it's a novel thing to have to do.
When I get back from the family funeral in the UK then the third will be dealing with the per GB... I'm still undecided if we're going to sell it to customers or not. It's been completely blown out of the water by the 'old boys club' knowing what pricing is coming next and it seems that several people that should know better on this forum don't. Either that or we throw R50m at it and just outsell everyone.. but to what end if you're not making money on it?

So, McFly is doing his figures and steadily building a business case either in favour or against the per GB market... hence the reason the pricing hasn't changed in 4 months.

However, in the meantime, if you want to wholesale either allocated or usage based ADSL then I believe we can give you pretty much the best pricing in the market and the best software to run and manage it. Although I would like to confirm that currently it's only Afrihost, Axxess reseller and our wholesale program that offers true sub R30 per GB or have I forgotten anyone?

P.S. Good, bad and constructive feedback is why I'm on these boards. I also want to try and dispel a lot of the internet 'myths' that seem to reside here and in the marketplace. So if you want to offer me help and advice or just abuse then I'm very open to it. Also, if you want to ask me 'why' some things are as they are I will also try to be open and honest with what I've learned as well... short of being libel ofc.
