I fell for the R20 special with axxess to get uncapped this month, 1024kb speed. Well, just a heads up to every one, once you pass that 20gb soft cap, (which actually kicks in around 18gb) don't expect to have any international speeds above 5kb/s (even though they say you just get half your line speed). You basically pay them for a dial up uncapped account, and when they are feeling kind, let you use it full speed every once in a while. You have been warned.

Well I went for the uncapped 4 meg option, off-peak I get full line speeds. Only usenet and torrents are shaped heavily on peak, my browsing speeds are still ok though. And I've already pulled down around 70gb, and thats only downloading about 50% of the time. I didn't buy the account just to nail it 24/7 like most.

I am trying this out. It does not stream (from twitch.tv) anything before 10pm. Youtube seems ok but I dont care about that. I like watching live events - this account is not able to do that.

Good thing i cancelled and have 50Gb left on my Afrihost uncapped account - that thing lets me do whatever the heck I want when I want. No BS.

Still - thanks to Afrihost/Axxess for making this offer available. I would not have tried it otherwise.

Im warning people so they understand what uncapped in South Africa really is. What I paid for it doesn't concern you. If you want to waste my and your time with these troll posts, rather do it in the bathroom on your own :)

Nubbie, then do your research before dissing a company that just gave you bandwidth for almost free. If it's IS based uncapped accounts then it will get shaped to hell if you constantly download.

PS: Pure-Design = Poorly designed. You should spend more time reading sites about website design and graphic design than downloading all those legal Linux ISO's ;) <- How is that for trolling :D

I would ask for a criticism, but really, you are right. It is just pure trolling.

Awww I missed it. So what the OP was saying is that there is still throttling based on usage on IS based uncapped accounts, the regulars responded by saying that everyone already knows that.

So the take home message to the OP is used the search feature so that you don't make outrageous claims about stuff everyone already knows.

Feel free to visit the PD section and post all the outrageous claims you want.

I would like to know why IS still do this, when the competition is clearly miles ahead? Why do people still buy these accounts? If you're not going to download a lot, you might as well not get uncapped then. I tested an mweb account before, and for a week it was super fast, so I can only assume it is much better than the IS based accounts.

And maybe a few minutes on how to use a spell checker on the text before you button-ize it (nice css theming of the text, instead of an image, would have meant less work to fix this ...)

+1 -uncapped 4meg - downloading after hours, mostly series stuff, and no complaints...full speed away...

I had exactly the same experience. I am looking for an uncapped account, so tried it out. Yes, I expected to get throttled. But not to 5k - I would have been happy to be throttled to 50k. The account becomes unusable between 8am and 5pm. That's not what the AUP states.
