because there's much more information available globally and if i want a s.a. site i restrict the domains to .za. often the international site will have a full range of products and the local site won't etc.

i'm a creature of habit. i've always searched with .com and resent being dictated to by my computer i.e. Microsoft (tks venomous). it becomes a power struggle.

open FF/IE/chrome.......

Select www.google.com

Go to options
set current page as homepage.

It's not google but MS you should swear at .
 when google detects where you're from it assumes you want that localised search regardless of your browser or OS.

hi bwana. so it is google? what a cheek! i've sorted i now thanks all.

Bwana's post is correct "www.google.com/ncr"

NCR stands for "no country redirect", so you go straight to the google.com (international) home page.

I don't think that it makes any difference. Google will still provide search results that best suit your profile - including your location.
