Ugh. A friend's having a big "traditional" bachelors in March and I am so not keen to go. It's a whole wear suits, get ****faced walking around from venue to venue, strippers, humiliate the guy thing.

In other words, not my cup of tea AT ALL.

Am I being a dick if I don't go?

Hate that kind of thing as well. Would rather have a nice braai at somebodies home, and just enjoy the whole thing.

Mate of mine had a advanced driving course in the morning, and then a nice braai afterwards. Obviously a lot of drinking, but everything was done safely in the comfort of his own home. People could also sleep over to avoid driving.

A friend being not your best friend? Then don't go. If you don't feel like being there other people will pick up the negative vibe.

Nope.

Maybe convince them to have a braai or something you WOULD enjoy first, and you could join them there, then when they go out to get rowdy, you can give that a skip and come post on the forum telling us how it was :p

Exactly - a nice relaxed piss up would be great, but this whole bravado-laden ritual to humiliate your buddy (and thanks to the strippers, his wife-to-be as well) is uber lame, in my book.

He's not my best friend, no.

*edit* @ Bwana below - no I'm not a groomsman.

Whose idea is it? Is this what the bachelor himself has asked for, or something that the 'best' man thinks is required? Not that it really matters, I suppose. You're well within your rights to say "thanks, but no thanks." For the sake of appearances, you can always feign or create a scheduling conflict.

You'd be surprised at the number of people who actually dislike the 'traditional' bachelor's.

I had a very civilised Bachelor's. My best man booked a back room at the Grillhouse for us and we had steak, beer and good conversation with my best mates. No stripper and no dress-up. No juvenile delinquency. Best bachelor's ever.

We normally do a golf game in the morning, followed by a braai at a non-home location, and sleeping over ... so you can have a whale of a time, without worrying about other people getting p!ssed off or you and your drunk mates having to drive home

A bachelors party without strippers or mild hazing of the groom?

I hope Killa is gentle with this thread when he sees it.

well for mine we just went to an irish pub and got pissed there :D. my other two friends we did the braai thing each. Was actually quite great. though all 3 cases had their humilation factor worked in ;).

Just a damn good time for old times sake. Best thing a bachelor can ask for from his true friends.

This chains and balls with funny clothes and dyed hair and and and in a public place is just dof. 15 year ago, it was fun. Today the poor sod will get robbed of his clothes and chained balls (no...not those balls...sigh, what are you thinking you dirty mind:wtf:)

No you're just getting old they'll understand.:p

Seriously though nothing worse than drink fueled bravado.

@Juice you gotta have a stripper ffs

I wonder about the men on MBB. Titties and they say nay....

aiaiaiai. :(

It doesn't have to get too hectic...just a bit of a show. The groom must be able to show that he can resist all temptation

Last bachelors I went to was the whole "chains and balls with funny clothes and dyed hair and and and in a public place" but without the dyed hair (the wedding was 2 days after and the bride objected). There were lots of "old" people there... Don't really have a problem with it at all but for mine I like the sound of the braai/steakhouse lounge kinda thing (we actually did that for the engagement party though).
