I have switched back to MTN (at least for 30days - i.e. until my data bundle expires)

I gave VM a try for 3 weeks and was really disappointed all round except for the speed (it was faster than mtn as mtn has no EDGE in my area!!) and the cost (50c/mb)

Other than that they failed on all other counts.

after having endless problems with virgin mobile - the last straw was the depletion of my airtime without my having used it.

it was a small amt of R7 - which all of a sudden became 0 after using about 1 or 2mb of data.

after numerous phone calls and no responses - which is not surprising as this has happened to me many times in the past few weeks (i.e. no responses)- i am now afraid to Vcharge ... what if my R50.00 vcharge suddenly vdisappears and VM runs away with my money promising to return my call but never fulfilling !?

My airtime doesn't disappear. It's still there, wait, let me have a look. Yes, it's there. Not a single 1c is missing.

Maybe you left your GPRS connection running or someone used your phone or something.

No. I dont think that happened. I actually was having endless problem connecting.

Anyway, I called them to ask for a billing - they didnt return my call 3 times. So the 4th time I used reverse psychology on the lady - saying that I'm not going to wait for her call because she wont call back .

She called! Surprise, surprise! Saying that the matter hasnt been resolved and she will call me back,

Still waiting ....

A friend of mine monitored his data usage on Virgin Mobile and checked against charges. Virgin was charging him more than R1.50 per Mb. It is so difficult to proof your data usage and when fighting about this the consumer will not win. He is back on MTN for good!

Well I'm not sure what to say here as this looks like a VM problem. But I suppose with any new network they still need to work out the bugs and stuff......

MTNDD

Obviously. MTN and VC had this problem as well in the past. But VM's billing is definitely inconsistent. I did get more than 50 meg from my 50 bucks, though. Which is good enough as I can't even get that on my MTN bundle.

after complaining on Hellopeter a senior guy from Vm called me and offered to give me R25 airtime - which I don't know if they did already as I havent put my sim card back in the phone yet.

That's strange

What, the R25 that they gave me or the fact that I dont know because
I didnt insert my sim yet?

Any other feedback on this as yet?

No further feedback. But they did credit me with R25 airtime. I'm waiting for VM to launch their V-Spot to see my online billing and figure out what happened.

MTN data most reliable

After giving VM yet another try for a few days I am still experiencing the same problems with connection i.e. it doesnt connect well at busy times like after 8pm .
So here I am back on MTN for another 30 days and paying now about 44c/MB for my 350 mb data bundle.

My advice: If you want reliablity combined with Prepaid flexibility and need to connect when YOU need to connect then MTN is the way to go.

I've experienced a similar charging error today on the VM network.
I purchased a R50 vcharge, used about 100K (browsing), checked my balance and got greeted by a figure of R45 available.
Yesterday I did the same. The first time the balance was about R9, browsed some more, did a balance check and got a figure of R13. Wotz up VM?

Ah! Finally somebody that had the same experience. I'm waiting for VM's online billing to see what went wrong. But they're taking so long with it that I will probably forget the details by then.

100k should only cost you 5c not R5. !
