Back to Vista after SP1

Hey guys, as most of you know I went from Vista x64 to Server 2003 x64 (what a great debate that was).

As time would tell I did like Server 2003 x64 very much indeed but I always thought I would go back to Vista after SP1. So yesterday thats what I did. Reinstalled Vista x64 (Home Premium) added SP1!

It feels like a completely different OS, this is what Vista should have been when it was released. Now I am glad I didn't manage to sell my Vista

That his computer obviously wasn't messed up from SP1, I guess. The article isn't saying that SP1 in general messes up computers, but that it could have some problems.

If it doesn't have any of those issues (mostly obvios after installation) then the improvements from SP1 are good.

My experience with Vista is that it works best on new hardware...
It's an overpriced pos but Vista is being improved the way XP had to be improved and SP1 is an improvement.

What I did on my system was, fresh vista install then immediately installed SP1. Only applied drivers etc after that. Doing it that way I did not and continue to have no problems.

As with the SP1 and SP2 for XP, they broke a lot but in the long run its worth it

The best would be to have the x64 Vista DVD with SP1 integrated, then you can VLite it as well.

I'm not sure when I'll have 3.6GB free to download that though.

I intalled the 64x one aswell, works better than ever, i didnt use vista as my only os,only used it for crysis so the drive it was on was next to a clean install, i love how its now, major improvement. dont know why ppl pick either xp or vista,i say be smart use both!!

Unfortunately unlike with xp service packs Vlite can't integrate vista service packs. MS change the way the service packs work.

I know that is a pain, either someone will find a work around or we'll have to wait for the iso's to be leaked out

I know if your technet subscriber you can download an integrated iso from there but I don't know anyone who is a technet subscriber.

I read about this but you need a valid Vista key to activate Vista right?

It's possible to download SP1 standalone on local!
use a download manager to resume the download on a local account once it's started on international.

We can do a format/reinstall it will just take much longer with no integrate iso of sp1. Means installing vista and then installing sp1.

Yes you do, yay my Vista is 100% legal. Although it would be really nice to have an image that has everything integrated into it.

Ok only one weird problem I am having. I use Magic Disc to mount virtual images. Some images mount and others just hang the entire system causing explorer.exe to crash

Slightly old thread, but I meant the ISO that you download which already has SP1 integrated into it. Don't think you can get this legally yet.

Once you have an ISO where SP1 doesn't need to be applied by Vlite, then you can do all the normal tweaking through Vlite. That is what I hope to get some time.. maybe when Seacom lands.
