Backing up halflife 2?

Explore the directory, right click, copy to another hdd or burn to dvd ;)

Sorry to hijack but how do you set the default resolution back in HL2 without going into the game itself. I set it beyond what my monitor is capable of and now the screen get all funky when I get to the game menus...maybe a command line thing or something.

Could be a command line, or you could delete the config file or something ;)

if you talking original, then go into the steam game list and just right click on game and say backup ;)

How do you do it?

Steam has a built in backup wizard.
Just run it, and select the games you want to back up. You can select the size media you wish to use, ie CD or DVD. It will then generate backup files that will fit on to whatever media you select. It makes a self-restoring backup.

Once it's finished, you can then burn the files on to a CD or DVD.

It works very well - I'm not sure about the very latest version of Steam - but the older one you needed to install steam first, then you could run your backup executable to restore your games.

My Steam backup uses 3 DVDs

can I copy my steam files to someone elses machine this way - they have their own STEAM account - just want to save them the trouble of a huge download
