Anyone know where I can buy a decent backlit gaming keyboard that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I'm looking at spending around R600.

Save for mechanical IMO.
U can also try the Gigabyte Aivia keyboard (GK-K8100). R499 excl VAT if u have a dealer account at Rectron, etc
Is the Gigabyte Osmium any good? Been wanting to switch to mechanical keyboards for a while, but it's a big investment.
Not sure. Pricey though. I rate the CM Storm Trigger is the best mechanical keyboard in SA. Also has a variety of switch types, not just red, which I don't really like. Prefer blue/brown with tactile bump.
The CM Storm Quickfire is available for less than these rubber dome keyboards. Although it doesn't have macro keys or numpad etc. But once you go mech, you won't go back.

Opinions, we all have emI cant see myself going mech for the foreseeable future
I should lend you this second-hand CM Storm Quickfire Rapid with blue switches I have here for a week - see how you feel after...![]()
Aren't blues the loudest ones? Stay away from me!!
I know I can hear Phreeme's keyboard over TS, I wonder what switches he has...
Probably blue if there's a clicky sound.
Sounds like browns would be a match for you.
Must say though, nothing quite like slamming away on blue switches... Strangely satisfying.
Taking the plunge & getting the Osmium today. Liked the softer keys way back when ALL keyboards were mechanical. lol
If the OP was in CT, I would have offered to sell my K8100 to him.![]()
What are the practical advantages of mechanical key switches ?
How much do you want for it?
