But there are other questions. Why are you backing up? What are you backing up? And how quickly will you need to access whatever you've backed up?

2TB hard drive = R1100
Blu ray writer = R2000
Nevermind all the Blu ray discs you need, and all the time you would have to dedicate to writing all those discs.
Just get one hard drive, copy everything over and done. Simplest and easiest way to do it.

Stay away from this drive - it's one of the low speed drives and Seagate had endless problems with their 1TB version of this drive. Rather get 2 of the seagate barracuda 7200.12 st31000528as , 1TB/1000gb, sata3G , 7200rpm, 32mb cache at R591 excl (price list is from June).

Not sure if this is the solution you are looking for, I used Genie Backup Manager Agent to compress 100gb of data to about 18 gigs but it takes take to recover the data and u will need hard drive to recover too.

If that is your question then the cheapest way to store data is on a hdd.

Maybe if you explained why you need to back up 2TB of data you'd get a bit more insight.

Another 2TB HDD is the simplest and most efficient route to go in my opinion.

On 2 1TB HDD's is probably the easiest. It will also spread your risk of failure.
