Does anyone know how much data you can store on a DVD? I need to backup about 7GBs of data once a month and was thinking that DVD would be the cheapest way to do this.

I've got a dealership with Rectron so LiteOn, Gigabyte and AOpen will be easy & cheap to get hold of. Been to check specs but all the numbers/formats are confusing.

Simple question what kind of dvd writer & disc combination do I need to backup 7GBs of data.

4.73 odd gb on a single layer disk.

Double that for dual layer. -- cept dual layer discs are still very expensive.

Dual Layer DVD - the disks cost more than 4.7 - expensive may be too strong a word. Depends on what you are storing. For me to pay 30-40 bucks a month for one DL disk to backup all my source code is cheap. To use it to write 1 pr0n disk per day would be expensive!
