Good Day

Does anyone know how I can backup the entire bootable partition of windows 7. I have set it up and I'm now tired of reinstalling windows everytime. So im looking for a way that can backup perhaps just the used up area of windows 7 and give me the option of restooring it back should my pc ever crash. I dont dread installing windows 7. The setup of apps and especially plugins for my softwares.

Any suggestions welcome.

Control panel > backup & restore > do backup > tick "include system image" > win!

Oh but i have tried that already and it all went well. Thats until i wanted to restore then i realized i cannot restore at all. Had the image and i could also mount it and get files from it but for some weird reason I could not get my sytem image to get restored. I was told to make a win 7 restore cd from the system i made the backup with which is windows 7 ultimate 64bit but even with the disk I got the error that i should put in a proper disk relevant to the system I'm using.

Googling the problem I noticed alot of folks sitting with a system backup that they can't restore.

Hence my quest for alternatives.

Macrium refflect free edition, that is all you need.
Will make an image and a boot disk that can be used to restore the image, have used it a ton of times and it works like a champ.

Awesome! So I can make a system image. Store it on an offline or external hard drive and when I need to just put back the image as is?

Does the partition size matter as in can I restore the image to a select sized partition i.e smaller hard drive or can I only restore to a disk as big as the one I backed up from?
