i've got a rackspace server sitting fairly idle that i use for dev (squeeze).
i thought i'd set up backups from my local machine (windows) to go there.
i'm not really familiar with what should be used client/server.
rsync looks better suited to this than other services and i see it can be used over ssh, but encryption isn't part of the protocol.
any other ideas?

i was also looking at this: http://web.synametrics.com/SyncrifyVsDeltaCopy.htm

but then i found this...
http://code.google.com/p/duplicati/

it's a cross-platform version of duplicity.
anyone used it before?

What exactly do you want to backup from your PC?

Duplicati doesn't look too bad. Depends on your situation

Mostly archived work. I've got loadsa graphics files which take up space and aren't really going to be used again.... till the client phones up in two years time saying they've lost the logo or want some arb thing changed. If that works ok I would move my most recent critical stuff so that my mind is at ease if lightning strikes.

I tried out duplicati but its not too hot for restoring - it gets compressed and encrypted and chunked so selectively restoring isn't so simple. I was kind of looking for a dropbox style solution.

I guess the archiving isn't too much of an issue it's more the sync style backup that I'm looking for
