I did some some work for someone (created a logo), before I started we agreed on the price(R500), and the work was done as agreed, 60 days later the guy still hasnt paid me(I should have watermarked the logo I know) , I have the conversation and all the details on email, I know its a small amount I should think of writing it off, but I'd like to prove a point, is it possible to take this guy to court for damages e.g. breach of contract ?

Maybe Court for Small Damages (or whatever it is called). The amount is way too little to use an attorney and obtain a judgement - it will cost you multiples of that.

If you want to make a point, and don't mind writing off 25%, you can approach a debt collection agency, they will do whatever it takes to get the money. I don't know if they have a minimum amount though. You could always write them saying that they have 30 days to pay in which case it will be handed over to a debt collection agency, that might make them jump a bit. I know Edgars threatened me once for a outstanding bill of R7.50, so I guess these debt vultures have no real morals or limits :P
