Bad Driving thread

It may be legal - but it definitely makes you a douchebag if you do so.

No, it's the correct way to let someone know that you would like to pass. How else would you suggest informing the driver ahead that you wish to overtake? Post him a letter?

How else do you advise a guy to move over - like colin62 said Post him a letter?

Its Road language -
Flash brights 1 or 2 times means please move over I'm faster than you, over take - Switch Hazards Means Thank you - flash brights once Means You are welcome- at Least this happens to me when I flash brights at some one to move over (or i was flashed at)- Please show me how This makes anyone a Douchbag.

when the lane to the left is clear and you refuse to move over and hogg the right lane - that makes you a dougebag

Old women... Who don't use their indicators...

Any one who don't use indicators!
I swear you see some people on the road who think it costs money to indicate.

This indeed. Even if there is a lane separating me and the palookah changing lanes without an indicator, I am expecting them to come over into my lane as well, as I am not sure of their actual intentions. Hasn't happened that way often, but I am prepared if it does.

On the other side, you have people who sometimes don't seem to realise their indicators are on, and happily drive down the road confusing everyone else who is think that they want to turn, but never do.

In my experience, more often than not, the douche flashing lights does so:

- when the highway is so congested it's not going to make one jot of difference if he passes you
- when the lane to the left is NOT clear and you obviously couldn't move over anyway
- when you're also trying to get past a slower car in front of you but somehow their need to pass is more important than everyone else's
- when the fast lane ahead of them is full of a line of cars that would also like to be going faster if the lane wasn't congested but they want some kind of special priority because they're driving a luxury car

Just because 1 douche flashes bights since he feels some sort of entitlement - does not mean that those who use it legally are Douches. Point is flash them to move and they move when safe to do so - if there is a line of cars to the left then obliviously not safe to do so. Thats like saying if anyone uses there hooter for whatever reason is a douche cause taxis use their hooters like its going out break if they don't.

Btw - The right lane is the overtaking lane not the fast lane.

The other day these two young ladies driving in a open top Jeep pulled up next me when I stopped at the traffic lights and proceeded to flash me. I nearly had a 'stroke' - fap fap

Hey this is the bad driving thread, not the good luck thread!

It's not about what you like - it's the law. Flashing lights is the legal way to inform the car in front of you that you wish to pass.

I do not need to be "asked" to move over. My car is fitted with three attachments, left, right and center, that allow me to detect the presence of a vehicle behind me. I can therefore work out, on my own, whether I can safely allow you to pass.

Flashing, while legal, is simply being a douchebag.

Self-righteous much? Have you never missed someone coming up from behind? Ever?

Nope. I check the mirrors very, very often.

And I'm not the only one being "self righteous".

I just want, when I am on the road, to be treated with the respect and courtesy with which I treat other drivers. That means indicating well in advance, letting people in when merging (and merging correctly) - and, yes, I do not flash my lights at slower cars if I want to pass, nor do I do that super-irritating toot on the hooter 0.0000001 seconds after the traffic light has changed to green.

What you want is irrelevant.

It is the legally accepted method of indicating to the driver in front that you wish him to move over as you are traveling faster than them. There is nothing douchebagy about it.
