Bad Driving thread

And Mini's

Talking about mini's, I was driving my dad's bakkie, made a mistake of letting some idiot make a turn, now I was behind them with their stupidly bright rear fog lights on. So I turn on my brights for the duration I was behind them. Road splits into 2 lanes, we stop at a traffic light, open my passenger window and politely tell the guy the reason for my full beam.

He bluntly tells me to go fcku off, I shouldn't be jealous if my car doesn't have rear fog lights.

I tell him those things are pretty bright and are at eye level when driving. He simply just increases his volume on the radio.

MINI...

Just as I got home today, the two gay dudes in our street walked past. The one guy has this awesome Macaw that is always on his shoulder. I needed to do some cleaning work on the bike so I start out and as I do I hear bird guy saying "I have to to tell, you have balls to drive like that, I tried to keep up with you in the Mini". The puzzled look on my face might have given him enough reason to carry on as I am sure I never out cycled a Mini on my bike. "That other rainy night, you have very good skills in this Peugeot" he points to my recently washed shiny black steed.

The penny drops. I recall that night when I took off from the traffic lights about 3km away from home and hammered it, this Mini that seemed glued to me. Some mild weaving through what little bit of traffic was left on the road. Feeling uncomfortable as this Mini follows me home, though the estate gates, every turn on my tail, eventually into my street. I was expecting it to block me in my driveway and give me a stern talking to, but our street has two cul-de-sacs and the Mini turned towards the opposite one from where I stay. I felt rather relieved back then.

Pretty sure the other cars cursed that crazy Mini and not the glorious 407 it was after on that faithful night...

How slow are you driving for the short area lit by front fog lights to make a difference so as to avoid said potholes? Sub 30km/h?

30kph is 8.3 m/s. Even a generous 5 metres of light shed by foglights will give you only 0.6 seconds to see and successfully avoid a pothole.

If only cars came with lights that could light up the road farther than 5 metres away...

I know right. They should really look at that.

I really need to invest in dashcam.

I left home about an hour back to see a client, I onramp onto the N12 from the east on atlas road, look into my rearview and there's a red polo vivo ZFT241GP is sitting on my arse, I am a bit of a slow driver, fuel is expensive hey...

So mr indian guy speeds up and overtakes me, merges to my lanes and brake checks me, I brake coming to a halt and my little car switches off. In my rearview at this time was a bakkie, which serves into the grass trying to avoid an impact. Mr red polo vivo gt just drives off.
Why even waste time on brake checking people??? If you're in a hurry just overtake the slow driver when it's safe and get on with your life.

Fog lights work better for potholes when used together with head lights.

Fog lights would be useless on their own, they just help to provide a bit more light closer to the road surface.

Chase him till he comes to a stop somewhere, then rearrange his face a bit.

Just wondering, do you GP people know what a traffic circle is and how it works?
On more than one incident had one GP guy go the wrong way around a circle one going from the inside lane to the outside pushing me off the road and another almost crashing into me by tying to push in

Of course they'll cover it. You are indemnified against being an idjit.
My insurer shelled out 40k to replace my front bumper and foglights because of a parking misjudgement.

I don't have the dent cover though. Do they still cover it?

Nor do I. Just get a quote and put in a claim. (Or chat to your broker if you have one, and get their opinion)
