Bad Driving thread

I’ve taken to doing that.

It boggles the mind how many people will be travelling 15-20 km/h faster than you, but just won’t overtake, chosing instead to sit on your tail, usually with their headlights in your mirror.

When this happens, and I get to a spot they can overtake I take my foot off the pedal. They’ll usually slow down behind me, till eventually they manage to get their brain around the fact the fact that they can actually go past. Frustratingly when I re-engage my cruise control, I’ll discover that they’re now travelling slower than me. Of course if I overtake them then, their tiny little testicles start to itch and they just have to either accelerate and not let me past or ride up my arse and pass me again, this time going like a bat out of hell.
.

The fact that I wait for a spot that they can overtake me implies quite heavily that it’s a single carriage way, one lane each way. But hey, feel free to not read the post but make snide little jabs from a position of ignorance. Let me know when it’s you behind me, I’ll throw in a free brake-check just for you.

Go back read your first post Nope no mention of single carriage - If you say they just won't overtake - means they have plenty of opportunity - this does not indicate a single carriageway actually the contrary. c Why exactly are they not overtaking in the first place before you start your speed up slow down act?

- Hence i stated reserve judgment until you answer the question and from this response to a question where again i did not make any snide comment just a question to justify any comment i wish to make -and that made you go into full on defensive mode
Feel free to brake check - one day you will get a real dumbass who cant stop intime - and you may be in the right (unless he has a dashcam) but you will still be in an accident what does that solve?

It’s spelt brake. And while it’s possible that you could get charged with reckless driving for doing it, it’s not easy to prove and the chances of going to jail are pretty slim. All of that is assuming that you’re an idiot and brake-check hard enough that the car behind hits you.

I’d rather not dumb down my posts, so perhaps you could just ignore them?
Thanks so much for pointing out my spelling mistake that I made on my phone using swipe. (/s in case you missed it, can never be sure with someone like you)
There is a difference between dumb down and being so dumb that you can't realize your post is obviously missing information.

You can overtake people in a dual carriageway, how are we supposed to know that the person wasn't being an ass and just staying behind you?

Can overtake all the time on a dual carriageway, and not have to "get to a spot they can overtake".

.
his first sentence didn't make sense - why are they not overtaking him in the first place - if a person is slow and you have opportunity to overtake, you overtake.

In his spelling he was chosing not to.

Indeed there isn’t. Which is why replied with the phrase “implies quite heavily” and not “I said”. Admit it - you didn’t read my reply properly either, did you?

If you say they just won't overtake - means they have plenty of opportunity - this does not indicate a single carriageway actually the contrary.
It means that at quite a few points in the last ten or fifteen kilometres there were clear opportunities to pass me, none of which were taken.

Why exactly are they not overtaking in the first place before you start your speed up slow down act?
Two things.

Firstly, I don’t have a clue why they aren’t overtaking me. How would I know that? I can speculate, and I do, but as to exactly why? Your guess is as good as mine. Your implication that they just wouldn’t do that is equally unfathomable. Why would you say that? Again, I could speculate.

Secondly, I don’t do a speed up slow down act. I drive at my speed, usually with cruise control, until there’s a nice long straight bit with no oncoming traffic and I back off. Once they’re past, I re-engage the cruise control. You really didn’t read very much of what I posted, did you?

Yes, I got defensive, or offensive, you can choose, and yes it was almost certainly an overreaction. Would you like an official apology or is that good enough? But I’m curious - why would you keep going in a discussion without actually reading what I posted?

his first sentence didn't make sense - why are they not overtaking him in the first place - if a person is slow and you have opportunity to overtake, you overtake.
Are you serious? If they did that, then why would it bug me, and why would I have posted about it in the bad driving thread?

The entire point was that their behaviour doesn’t make sense in that they have opportunity to overtake but don’t, so that pretty much went woosh past you, the exact opposite of what happens on the road.

And for the record, I’m usually not slow - I tend to set the cruise control at the speed limit + 10.

read your post multiple times, and i will now explain why your statements seem contradictory

Indeed there isn’t. Which is why replied with the phrase “implies quite heavily” and not “I said”. Admit it - you didn’t read my reply properly either, did you?
again i replied based on your first post which you did not state it was single carriage or otherwise so i read it multiple times and as the first paragraph did not correspond with the next, i had to ask the question. you say it implies heavily but again the point is even on a dual or more carriageway opportunities to overtake can be low , numerous time in the right cars are so slow you have to overtake on the left

It means that at quite a few points in the last ten or fifteen kilometres there were clear opportunities to pass me, none of which were taken.
understandable but not explained now it has been explained i understand, the vagueness of the initial post i had to ask

again if they had opportunity why would they not the opportunity to me implied dual carriage , if single well then either they idiots, dooses or no opportunity

Secondly, I don’t do a speed up slow down act. I drive at my speed, usually with cruise control, until there’s a nice long straight bit with no oncoming traffic and I back off. Once they’re past, I re-engage the cruise control. You really didn’t read very much of what I posted, did you?
in your words - When this happens, and I get to a spot they can overtake I take my foot off the pedal. They’ll usually slow down behind me, till eventually they manage to get their brain around the fact the fact that they can actually go past. Frustratingly when I re-engage my cruise control, I’ll discover that they’re now travelling slower than me.
so the above indicates a change of speed, if your speed is constant why would they need to slow down, and that is where i get your speed up slow down act - ill give it to you it should be slow down speed up act.

just FYI cruise control once its engaged you do not put your foot on the accelerator so releasing your foot
off the pedal or backing off as you claim will not do anything but speed will remain constant, you will need to either press the accelerator or brake to disengage cruise control (or hit the cancel cruise control button or stick etc) so claim i didn't read but i did read a bit too well

i have read your posts the problem is a few thing that didn't make sense hence the questions (which i have mentioned) , i am neither taking your part or accusing you , you went into full defensive mode.
i don't need or want an apology , just a simple answer and that would have been me agreeing with you.

Are you serious? If they did that, then why would it bug me, and why would I have posted about it in the bad driving thread?
like i said it didn't make sense , since you didn't mentioned the type of carriage way and as mentioned on highways i've seen similar situations now confirmed its a single , makes a little more sense.

The entire point was that their behaviour doesn’t make sense in that they have opportunity to overtake but don’t, so that pretty much went woosh past you, the exact opposite of what happens on the road.

And for the record, I’m usually not slow - I tend to set the cruise control at the speed limit + 10.

you realise your behavior doesn't make sense ? like i said i asked what lane and boom full on attack .
if you said it was a single lane i would have been ya cool they dumb

Nah, you insinuated that I was a hogging the right lane, and I replied dripping with sarcasm.

please dont assume , i made no such implication and that i think you need to apologise for - i was quite clear , - i asked the question for one fact before i made the decision as to whether i believe you were in the right or wrong .
if i assumed you were in the right lane i would have just said it.

if you look at my posts on this thread i am very blunt in my responses

Okay, enough now. Take it to PM if you have issues with each other or move on.

We're here for bad driving :)

I should have a video up later, accumulated some gems over the past few weeks.
I honestly have no issue with him - he seems to have a chip on his shoulder because i asked for a bit of clarification

Have you managed to piss somebody off well enough to the extent of havening a bird flipped at you? If not, don't sweat, we all have our bad driving days.

It was already dark. He didn't appear overly irritated. He flicked lights one/twice and drove past without further drama.

Same as what I would do. Absolutely no need to get upset at a mistake, just let the other driver know "hey, I'm also here as well", then continue on without much further ado. And then post dashcam footage so others can learn from that.

Hopefully you will not get a driver who'll brake check you, then get out of his car to hurl abuse at you.
