Bad Driving thread

Experienced my first excessive roadraged driver today, to the point where he brought me to a standstill on the n1 south just after william nicol and then chased me down and cut me off on the malibongwe offramp. Running after my car through traffic with some object and banged my windscreen. And he wanted to try again at the oxford robots on malibongwe but I drove off into the inner roads.

Be careful plenty of nutters out there.

I had a feeling the Golf was going to turn when he was supposed to go straight. :D

A minute later and he jumps a red light. :(

I dread that set of lights by the Old Grahamstown Road / John Tallant intersection! There is forever a multilink trunk jumping the light or someone asleep at the wheel causing everyone to wait for another cycle of the signals, or people pushing in by using the right side lane when they know the lane in front is backed up.

And judging by your video it seems par for the course in PE - hence why I now call any Polo or Golf a "Vee-TroubleYou" :p

We all know in SA
Green = Go
Yellow = Go
Red = Go

The crossing is much better since the upgrade. The lane merge was horrible. :)

Couldn't get the number plate, but can see the Robot was already Red a while before the Bakie decided to turn.

That's pretty common here in Joburg. I've taken pictures of Metro cops vans using straight lanes to turn right, to jump red lights. Nobody gives a ****.

Practice and enforce defensive driving yourself.

With luck two assholes will cause a major crash, leaving you untouched.

edit : the flouting of traffic rules (jumping red lights) only get reinforced when nothing bad happens, so the bad driver will actually do it over and over again until the worst happens.

Where do I start...on the bike from the Centurion Gautrain stations towards PTA East in the pouring rain during rush hour and man oh man...there seems to be a "let me drive like a complete p**$ switch in majority of cagers minds when the rain starts up. I had to dodge two cars that just skip red lights as they think, because the traffic isn't moving in one direction, they had right of way over an intersection. Nevermind the amount of people blissfully unaware of their surroundings whilst driving.
TL;DR
It was a nightmarish 11km back home

So last night, sat at the intersection of Durban Road and the N1 onramp, Paarl direction (Cape Town).
The light was red for us, with approx 20 or so cars behind myself and the two cars on either side of me, we were in front.

The light was taking forever to change. And I mean, forever, like, 5mins, 10mins, maybe.

So of course cars start running the red light, as there's clearly something wrong with the lights. And when there's something wrong with the lights, of course you have the right to break the law and endanger those around you.

Me being me, not one to jump a red light with my family in the car, waited patiently.

I got hooted at to run the light, shouted at, flipped off, etc. But I refused. AITA?

Stopping almost in the middle of the road.

Sir, if you're not putting your life, your family's lives and other lives around you in danger, you are not BTA.

This morning was fun along old Jhb road. lights were out on old jhb and Olifantsfontein, this is a rather busy intersection in the morning where most mornings Taxi's do what they want at this intersection... this morning was a on another level. Taxi's driving up the wet dirt shoulder on the left hand side and then cutting across 3 lanes to turn right, cars and taxi drivers turning left then turning around on the other side then going through the intersection without waiting for anyone. a whole bunch of cars and taxi's flying down the wet dirt shoulder then trying to squeeze in right in front at the intersection. how i didnt get hit by just sitting still i dont know... to rub salt in the wound 100 meters up the road Metro are directing traffic at a WORKING traffic light.
