Bad Driving thread

So last night, sat at the intersection of Durban Road and the N1 onramp, Paarl direction (Cape Town).
The light was red for us, with approx 20 or so cars behind myself and the two cars on either side of me, we were in front.

The light was taking forever to change. And I mean, forever, like, 5mins, 10mins, maybe.

So of course cars start running the red light, as there's clearly something wrong with the lights. And when there's something wrong with the lights, of course you have the right to break the law and endanger those around you.

Me being me, not one to jump a red light with my family in the car, waited patiently.

I got hooted at to run the light, shouted at, flipped off, etc. But I refused. AITA?

I feel like if it was very obvious for everyone that there was an issue people should have started taking turns going. if however there was uncertainty and you weren't just being a pews then when someone hoots me like that its time to become the pews

Tuesday I was on the highway, going south past Makro and John Vorster.

Some lady came up from the left and sits in the middle lane. I'm in her blind spot.

I see she want to move over without indicating, so I hooted. And again.

Eventually she looked over her shoulder, sees me, and she is pissed, and accelerated away, only to push in somewhere in front.

This sometimes happens up here in Johannesburg, William Nicol and Hobart Rd where the BMW and Jeep dealerships are. Some motorists sit and wait and some jump the red but the traffic light always changes.

seems it was working then maybe just out of sync, i think what you probably did was right but i can imagine the frustration. Hopefully it gets reported and fixed.

I would report it to the municipality/roads agency rather saps are not responsible for robots.

I don't recall anything in the law dealing with this, so use common sense and be as safe as possible and you should be good.

At least you weren't dealing with a set of traffic lights that was green for all roads at the same time. That is some good fun during rush hour traffic

In my instance it was before 8am, what municipality/road agency would be open then? Hence I went to the police station, who in my instance were quite happy to call whoever they needed to. Cape town ftw
