Bad Driving thread

You could have overtaken them on the left like that guy did you all, there is no law against it...

Incorrect, there are laws against overtaking a vehicle on the left, perhaps not in this case which I have already said in my post that you quoted. I still think it's a dick move though, you don't so we'll have to agree to disagree.

So driving like a **** you are upset because someone else did too.

The only "law" most people understand is keep right pass left.

Post 4805, that piece of road is an excellent example. You can flash headlights, honk your horn, pass left and try to push people off the road and they will still sit 90KM/h in the 3rd overtaking lane flashing their lights when you over take them.

Please quote them.

You may not overtake on the shoulder of the road, for example, but on a multilane road you can overtake on left, and that is a multi lane road.

You can read more here for the details, as I said it may be permissible on that stretch of road but there are situations where it is not allowed...

Sure, but please let me know why I should have moved over at all considering I was waiting for the bakkie and truck ahead of me to move over so that I could pass them?
you supposed to move left so that the faster guy behind you knows you not the hog its the other guy in the front

We had one these MV to LV transformers catch alight and it took around 3 days to replace so there are going to be a few disgruntled residents in the area.
Oddly enough we only lost power for about an hour and a half. I was expecting worse, but pleasantly surprised when the lights came back on just as I was hooking stuff up to the inverter.

But agreed, I think there were many peeved off sparkies out there today

Sherwood would still be in the dark if the cables were severed. Luckily it wasn't. :)

I missed another prime example of idiots in our suburb ignoring mini circles as I forgot to put the MicroSD card in my dashcam :X3: There was this guy who got frustrated wit hteh single lane sections of the R512 on Monday...

I know there is a section on the R512 Malibongwe where slower vehicles refuse to move to the left lane, it's a short section created for passing, forcing faster vehicles to pass on the left, is it that section? I've overtaken on the left there many times, it's definitely not dangerous, and it's legal.

It might be the section, the section in my video is heading back towards Cosmo City/Kya Sands just before Lanseria after the Build It and Shell Garage is. It is quite short, on an uphill and they are repainting the road with the driver in question over taking three vehicles in one go which I though twas dangerous.

I do it all the time, if you're slow, I won't even bother to sit on your arse. I'd rather overtake you on the left, it's safer.
As for it being legal, I think it's subjective. Like this morning, a lady had a flat, instead of driving on the left, she was in the right lane with her hazard lights flashing. Mind you this is on the same Malibongwe road. Keep left pass right just doesn't work.

It works perfectly fine if people actually do it.

Idiot in a white mercedes C180 overtakes from the right and cuts me off on the left, then proceeds to keep at 80km/h in a 100km/h zone for a few km until his off-ramp comes up.

I presume the blind rise and slight turn is the reason why it is a sold white centre line and overtaking is prohibited.
Yes, the speed limit there is 100kmh and there was an accident there recently where a light truck and a car had a head on and burnt out. When you pop over the rise from the other direction you only have about 100m / 3 secs to react and brake, no chance of stopping in time.
