Bad Driving thread

Gents, I was on the N1 south bound, between Beyers and 14th Avenue. I’m on the right Lane, going at about 140 km/h. What’s in my rear view mirror? A Putco bus, fuçking tailing me with hazards and headlights flashing demanding I get out of the way.

I have officially seen it all.
Bus, taxi and truck drivers all stoned 24/7 out of whatever is left of their brains.

Nottinghamshire ford closed with immediate effect amid 'dangerous and irresponsible' driving

The Rufford Ford has become an unlikely tourist attraction as drivers splash through deep water. Authorities now say they have been forced to close it off.

A Nottinghamshire ford has been closed to all vehicles with immediate effect amid "increasingly dangerous and irresponsible driving" through it.

The Rufford Ford near Ollerton regularly ends up being at least two feet deep in water, but many motorists still try and go through it.

This has led to several cars having to be abandoned in the ford over the years. Recently, the site has also become an unlikely tourist attraction, as drivers speed up before hitting the ford so as to splash the onlooking crowd.

But authorities say such behaviour is putting drivers and pedestrians at risk and the ford has therefore been closed for the foreseeable future.

Nottinghamshire County Council says it had been working closely with Via East Midlands and Nottinghamshire Police to look at ways to improve safety in the area.

But the authority says that the closure will now be remaining in place until a longer-term solution has been developed.

Councillor Neil Clarke, cabinet member for transport and environment at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: "Road safety remains a high priority for the county council, and it is because of this that we, along with our partners, will be putting this closure in place immediately."

"We know that Rufford Ford has become popular with locals and those from further afield, but we cannot stress enough that dangerous driving in this area cannot continue because it puts the safety of motorists and pedestrians at risk."

"Work with our multi-agency partners has been ongoing for some time to discuss safety measures at Rufford Ford and a feasibility study for traffic calming measures has been carried out."

"There is already a significant amount of road safety signage around the ford which has been in place for some time to keep all road users safe, however due to the increase in incidents at Rufford Ford, we feel that the safest solution is to put a temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) in place while longer-term solutions can be developed further."

"The closure has been put in place with immediate effect and will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the foreseeable future."

The Rufford Ford is situated near the historic Rufford Abbey, as well as Rufford Golf Club. It is used by many commuters coming from areas such as Nottingham and Mansfield as a shortcut.

Inspector Matthew Ward, District Commander for Newark and Sherwood, said: "It is with regret that as a result of consultation between Nottinghamshire Police, Via East Midlands and Nottinghamshire County Council, a closure of Rufford Ford to all vehicle traffic will immediately come into effect on the grounds of safety."

"We appreciate that Rufford Ford is an integral part of the estate, however increasingly dangerous and irresponsible driving seen at the location which is putting vehicle occupants and viewing public at significant danger. This decision has been made to safeguard and prevent harm to both highway users and pedestrians."

Holy crap those are a lot of words to say a road has been closed

The idiots do make for good Youtube compilations though.

Also watched that about a week ago, quite shocking, I'm convinced that these truck drivers are literally high on tik all the time and have never had a real/legal drivers licence of any kind.

Tight margins, owners who dont look after their trucks, dagga, overloading (the I can be overloaded by a certain percentage according to the law myth), over-working drivers, sheer disregard of road traffic regulation, congestion (railway failures) etc etc all are factors in the carnage we are seeing on the roads with HMV and BTO's. Owners dont have a grip of these issues in their control, the state (transnet is in disarray).

All of these factor play on each other, today it's only the minority companies that can largely prevent these "accidents". I also saw it on the same day it was aired, it didnt surprise me, I was just all to happy to see the out there in the mainstream news.

No seat belt, warning light on, at speed phone in hand.

The guy has a death wish, you dont do that in a Hilux.... Children in adult bodies.
Gents, I was on the A5 south bound, between Harare and Plumtree. I’m on the passing Lane, going at about 120 km/h. What’s in my rear view mirror? A Putco bus, tailing me with hazards and headlights flashing demanding I get out of the way.

I have officially seen it all.

I fixed it for you.;)

Well technically, you should move left and allow the movement of traffic, Iris has some people to kill.

Well well well.....

I was told that many many many years back in Natal farmers used to put their produce out next to the road with a open basket where customers would buy what they wanted and deposit the money into the basket without a teller and leave. The farmer would come at the end of the day to the stall and collect his earnings and repeat this everyday come harvest season.

How tragically things have changed.

Why did it overturn at the toll gate? From a route risk management aspect this bottleneck toll gate is a high risk section of the N3, there goes the insurance premiums :cautious:

It's about bloody time! It's been years now man.

Incredible Australian road safety campaign video. Two drivers, one speeding and the other waiting to join the road are on a collision course. Both have committed grave mistakes but before their collision, they meet and have a conversation about their infringements. They can't change the course and both have to return to their respective cars to continue their destinies.

In Racecourse Road, waiting to turn right to Access Park this morning
Lights turned red for traffic
4 cars came through red lights
A GP-registered Mercedes 4x4 followed
Unbeknown to me, there was an umarked SAPS car next to me in a grey Golf GTI
Siren and blue lights on, he caught up with the GP car in Access Park
As I drove past, cop had book out and was capturing driver's particulars
