Bad Driving thread

The white car, sure, you can see ahead, the bakkie though....

This is why I always drive on the shoulder over a blind rise.
Also see this on my daily commute between Durban & Ballito; it's mostly due to roadworks and HGVs ignoring the signs to stay left at all times. People get annoyed and frustrated very quickly on the road and would take risks like this. Not proud of this, but I've taken a risk like this myself. There is something about driving in SA, with all the taxis that ignore every single road rule, idiots walking in the road next to the sidewalk, etc., and many other daily issues. We've become very angry and aggressive drivers with very little patience.
The sad thing is, if it were not for the current state of our country, those trucks would have been on the rails rather than on the crumbling roads.

Also, some sections of road clearly don't need solid lines which also causes frustration and some sections that aren't solid lines but should be.

Help me understand the pathology behind the lethal overtakes though.

Is it:

- Inability to process the consequences of a head-on - death and maiming of innocents
- Grandiose level of arrogance - I'm super important and don't care about rules, oncoming traffic must dangerously yield to me
- Pure stupidity

?

Never, ever, underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Ignorance of not knowing the rules after buying license.

What’s happening more and more in Cape Town is this nonsense of driving into oncoming traffic and expecting those cars to yield.

I can’t comprehend the mentality
It's the refugees from the rest of the country bringing their road rules with them.
