Location
Dark room in Adventure. Grues abound.
I'll start this thread off with this one :

Basically :
pedestrian on left shoulder
runs across
get clipped by bakkie
almost did a somersault
got up, ran away as there was damage to the bakkie

Is that maybe deliberate? One of those Chinese things to get an insurance payout?

I hit a pedestrian once at night with my Hilux mirror - he decided to just step into the road from nowhere - must of hurt like hell, pretty sure it would have broken something... wasn't going to stop in that location at that time.

Not sure if its countrywide thing but in certain parts of Cape Town the pedestrians like "throwing" themselves in front of the car(s) in the hope of quick payout from the RAF.

I know someone who was the victim of this. Area being Vanguard Drive aka Jakes Gerwel Drive.

Another level of stupidity in my book.

I'm a bad pedestrian. I walk with earphones on full blast and cross roads without a care :o

Kinda related: There was a guy I met who proposed walking around in more affluent neighbourhoods and antagonizing dogs at open gates in hopes of being bitten and getting a payday from suing the owner. Might've been that he was just full of s**t.

And here in the City the pedestrians insist in walking in the middle of the Road.
It's a wonder more of them aren't killed!!!

Re the video. Not sure it would be a strike, but a second shot could have got him the spare.

I've had similar incidences. Never hit a pedestrian luckily, but the fact we have pedestrian warning signs in the highway is an indication of how little regard is given to road laws, by the foot soldiers of our homeland.

The vehicles were going very slow. Maybe the pedestrian though he could cross between the cars.

Real silly doing that on a freeway.

You haven't driven in East London yet.... Our pedestrians are all ninja's.

BTW what went flying when he got hit ?

Probably his shoe.

The speed on the dash cam showed they were driving at ±20km/h, the Isuzu a bit faster.

Going to have to ask for proof for this ridiculous claim.

It would have made national headlines if true.

What are you on...what makes it ridiculous? I didn't say everyone does it but some people do it for the supposed financial gain.

If you don't want to be believe me that's up to you.

almost every saturday especially if there is a bit of fog someone gets bodied on the R21.....

sometimes its a bit hard to feel sorry for these highway runners as you can on some highways see the goverment builds a wall in the middle of the highway so that the peeps from the informal settlements dont run over and rather use the bridge 100m away but alas the next day theres a hole knocked out of the wall and you check the highway runners at it again.

Happened to me on the 9th of May 2007 on the N1 at Joostenburg vlakte. Happens quite regularly around Cape Town.
