Bad Pedestrians

Not sure if its countrywide thing but in certain parts of Cape Town the pedestrians like "throwing" themselves in front of the car(s) in the hope of quick payout from the RAF.
I know someone who was the victim of this. Area being Vanguard Drive aka Jakes Gerwel Drive.

Another level of stupidity in my book.

The more stupid part of this "scam"....epic fail as there is no such thing at all.

This happened to me tonight on the N2 on the way back from the airport. Guy literally dove in front of my car. More guys were standing a few meters further, so the police think it was an attempted robbery.

We had several case of people disabling safety on presses to enable them to chop off fingers. Someone worked out the Workman's Compensation payout was based on the level of disability, and it was a case of "I don't really need this finger"

My absolute 2 favourite pedestrian habits:

I don't know if this is an Eastern Cape thing or not, but 3 or 4 of these idiots walking side by side in the street with their backs to oncoming traffic. My little I10 is pretty quite so I can get right up behind them before I sit on the hooter. The look of complete shock and confusion that there might be an actual car, driving on the street of all places is priceless.

and

Ok, so I'm a pedestrian and I'm about to cross the road - I see that there is oncoming traffic, but I'm going to try my luck anyway.
I get past halfway and realize that "oh tish" I'm might not make it. I have 2 options: 2 steps forward to safety or 4 steps backward to safety.............. I know, I'll go backwards and make sure the oncoming car has to slam on brakes and swerve around me, rather than take the 2 steps forward and not cause any problems for anybody.
