Bad restaurant reviews

I was in the mood for sushi (vegetarian kind) and decided to go to Cape Town Fish Market Canal Walk.

The table was so sticky everything was sticking to it...gross. The chairs (all 4) at the table were so wobbly I thought it was going to collapse. Sushi was good, but the Wasabi smear was tiny and a small mound of ginger not enough either. SO had the enchilada and I tasted some of it, it was bland - she said the same. The Mojito tasted like it contained no alcohol, but my SO tasted it and said she could. We had to call the waiter twice to bring the bill, although he had seen me calling him the first time (acknowledging with a nod and smile) but just left. Service - 2/10. This restaurant is slighty better than the Spur.

They will NEVER see me again.

Ocean Basket (PTA / Woodlands)

Fish and calamari combo for take away:
Food was old and medium to cold.

Not going to there again, it was a total waste of time and money.

Disappointing cause they used to be really good when I lived around the corner. You can try Angelo's in Randpark Ridge for a decent Italian restaurant.

They still are. I had the lasagne a few weeks ago and just a delicious as always. It's also the only place we order pizza from. Maybe just a bad day, I dunno?

Cape Town fish market Big Bay,

Went in for half price sushi, tasted "ok", presentation was crap though, they had untrained kitchen staff behind the belt, nigiri literally was just lumps of rices with badly cut fish draped over it. They had "crab stick" nigiri, where they literally tied a dry crab stick to the back of a ball of rice, was hilariously bad.

Will not go back again.

spur bluff --went there yesterday the food used to be so good now maybe because it was one of those specials bottomless ribs and wings...the ribs were just plain bad

But considering i will give it another try but not on those special days where its is just chaos.

These are my worst experiences, where I couldn't find much of a redeeming quality.

Service was extremely slow, we were double billed for things we ordered and billed for things we didn't. The food - 2 different dishes, one pork the other chicken - was raw. Raw chicken. Raw pork. Not on. Somebody ordered a Pino Colada, which tasted like 2% milk diluted with dishwasher water. Even the beer was warm (as in room temperature). I remember the bill coming to R500 for 4 people, of which none could eat their food (because they serve raw chicken!) or enjoy the drinks, but we didn't pay a single cent for it. Or should I rather say refused to pay a single cent.
I heard they closed down sometime last year.

Supposedly fine dining restaurant. It's not. The menu looks good on paper, but it's executed rather poorly. A fillet should be tender and juicy, not taste and look like overcooked chopped liver. Veggies can complement a dish and should look fresh and fragrant, instead mine was also overcooked and looked like the I&J mixed freezer packets. When you hear cinnamon ice cream, you'd think it's beautifully flavoured ice cream, not friggin country fresh ice cream with cinnamon sprinkled over it.
Decor is severely dated and menu is rather pricey for what you get. I guess you pay premium for the view that you get.
I'll go back when they actually appoint a chef and update the decor.

Service - 4/10 - we had 3 different waiters during the course of an evening, 1st completely sick and should not be around food with his germs projectiling every where. We requested a different waiter, which had the attention span of a rock. She forgot our drink orders (we were only 2 people and she was only serving 2 tables) and forgot to bring our appetizers (after waiting for more than 45 minutes). 3rd Waiter redeemed service, at first, but was very stand offish towards the end and demanded a larger tip at the end of the eve.
Food - 4/10 - Bluefin prides themselves as being a classy, quality dining restaurant. The sashimi was butchered, the rice was inconsistent and I reckon they mix Nola mayo with the Spicy/Sushi Mayo. Based on expectations, they didn't come close to delivering quality.
Value for money - 4/10 - averagely priced, but not for what we got. Still better than the next restaurant.

Been dragged there twice and on both occassions it was absolutely pathetic.
Service - 2/10 - waiters are slow and rude and orders take way too long to get to the table (+/- 30 minutes just for a couple of beers)
Food - 2/10 - the sushi is dry, the fish are oldish and floury and generally just sub standard (for something that is supposed to be an art and skill). Have bought better sushi at a PnP.
Price - 3/10 - reasonably priced on the menu, but when you get the food it is not value for money
Decor/Atmosphere - 1/10 - the table we sat at was broken (glass table with the glass cracked through) and we had big plastic chairs. Felt like I was in kindergarten. This is acceptable at a place like Dog's Bollocks because that's the vibe they sell...not at this restaurant.
Overall, I've had better experiences eating a Rennies and a garage pie than there. Wouldn't go on my own and wouldn't spend a dime on anything.

Haven't been there in a while but Smith and Willensky (roof of Eastgate mall) is pretty bad. The food is OK but I've never been there where the waiters didn't mess up or they are out of stock of the most basic things or, and this is the absu****inglutly worst - the table cloths are always dirty..stained. It feels like a downgrade from Spur after you've sat there for a while :(

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking for a nice restaurant where they sell potjie, like the Oxtail potjie at de kelder, but I'm bored of them now.

Ordered a cashew nut chicken thing but received beef instead. I was too hungry to care.

I paid R99 for the cashew nut "chicken thingy".

I don't know if it is just me but the standards of some of these franchises are really going down.

My Simply Asia noodle thingy looked and tasted unimpressive.

The noodles look and tasted like maggie 2 min noodles, the veggies tasted like frozen veg and the beef was as hard as rubber.

I would say that Simply Asia's standards are on par with Nandos but more expensive.

I ate that meal thinking "wow i can cook something tastier for cheaper"

I bought a little custard coconut milk bun thing for R20. It was ok but I was surprised by how small it was.

The Eastern Food Bazaar has an asian noodle area & my Simply Asia meal wasn't any better.

I thought Simply Asia was a premium brand/franchise. I was wrong.

The portion size seems to be on the small size. I was sufficiently full but I kinda expected more food considering the quality.

4/10

I would rather support a decent little asian restaurant.
