Hi,

I battle with my 3g signal giving me only 1 bar across many areas around Edenvale and it consistently kicks me off. I have 4 3g modems within the family, with two of them HSDPA and have the same problem in Croyden, Eden Glen and Meadowbrook.

Is there a bad area band here on the East Rand and secondly how do I go about complaining to Vodacom to get some action?

Thank you
Andy

Hi

Welcome

1st of all you cant have the problem every where you go.

if its a problem in your area it will be in the area.

I would suggest testing these cards at a vodashop/vodacare as a 3G network problem cannot follow you everywhere.

My signal is OK when not at home, but here in Brackenhurst where I live signal sucks. Not just 3G, even calls are a pain!!

Try getting signal in Greenstone, you are lucky if you get 2 bars and then the performance is terrible.... I can't get ADSL yet, Telkom 3G or anything else.... Very frustrating.

bwahahaha @ vodacomrep. Yeah right. If I get proper 3G anywhere in JHB its a miracle, it either doesnt exist, or you get 3G connection with GPRS speeds, or you get 3G connection that gets terminated every 2 mins...

I agree, 3G on Vodacom sucks, I am in the Ryanfield Benoni area and I used to be able to get 3G signal (not the greatest but it was there) in my room but the last week its been dead as a doornail. @ VodacomData - what can we do to test/complain/fix area specific signal problems? Ive sent you a pm as per your signature

what I am asking really is which helpdesk would take care of something like this?

I also tried 155, not much help... To be honest if I get one more person telling me it is my configuration that I am running I am going to loooossse it.... Come on if it was something with my config I would have the same problem everywhere..... But I can go into Vodaworld then my config works perfectly and I don't experience any 3G problems..

hi Andy
also in edenglen suffering with the same Vodacom crappy signal.some days can barely make realible voice calls. MTN on the other hand has got blanket coverage on the entire area.i've also been trying to get someone at vodacoms attention regarding this issue without any luck so far. just holding out to see the end of my vodacom contracts and the switching to MTN. just not getting any love from Vodacom at the moment .

Oh my word I cannot get over the arrogance of the people at Vodacom. On Friday I had no data connection in areas from Greenside to Bedfordview to Jetpark including all the areas in between (I needed to get some data while driving). I did not manage to connect to a web page or send an mms once on Friday.

The problem followed me all the way home to Weltevredenpark where after 5 days Vodacom finally fixed their network without coming near me or my cellphone/3g card/sister's phone/sisters 3G card/brother's 3g card/fiancée's phone/fiancée's 3g card.

I wonder what happens when the same problems follow more than one device around?

Face it Vodacom, you have problems on your network - all over!

Useless Vodacom

Bump on this post. Am in Greenstone and have always had apalling 3G and voice signal.

Really happy to say I am canning all Vodacom contracts asap (early next year) and moving elsewhere.
Currently plan is MTN as they now have signal in the area but will see what Cell C offers at the beginning of next year in terms of signal.

I'm trying to get the location of my nearest cellphone tower from their call centre (so I can point my antenna at it) - do you think I'm getting any help? I swear they must hire retards! I could go on and on about the stupidity of some of the people there but it'll just make me more angry.

Does anyone know an easy way to find out the GPS co-ordinates of their towers? Surely they need a licence for each tower location or do they get a blanket licence? Either way, this information should be in the public domain..
