Bajaj Qute

The price have gone up already? I thought it was R65k.

Edit*
I see this one is advertised as a 600cc compared to the 200cc in the OP, do we have two models?

Must be a typo - the model is called the RE60 - and according to the Bajaj website, this is the only engine on offer:

"Qute has a higher fuel efficiency of 43 km/kg* – at least 65% more than the most popular small car. It has a 4-valve water cooled DTSi engine with closed loop fuel injection system. The engine is 216 cc and is light weight."

Petrol : 35 km/L* CNG : 43 km/kg* - *As per our testing conditions

Apparently, according to the Bajaj website, it also conforms to 'rigorous safety standards' as well...

Occupants' Safety

The Qute has been rigorously tested on multiple parameters, terrain and weather conditions in India. From the hot deserts of Rajasthan to the cold altitudes of the Himalayas, from rural roads to city traffic, Qute has been put through over 3.2 million km of testing.

These tests check for structural durability, suspension, performance, handling, efficiency and all forms of abuse.

Qute is made at a state-of-the-art assembly plant that uses the latest robotics & automation for precision manufacturing. The entire process is supervised and quality checked by expert engineers.

Cute. When you're serious about a four wheeled moped:

1618642142742.jpeg

216 cc
Max. Speed:
70 kmph, 5th gear
Max. Gradeability: 18% (10.2 degree) for CNG 20% (11.30 degree) for Petrol; in first gear.
0-60 in 20 sec

Imagine being behind this thing on a hill. Even worse thats specs for something new... imagine it after 2-5 years of service.

Just no I don't care how affordable it is, no one should buy it. It will sooo f up SA roads.
Sorry to say I would prefer to share my road with taxis than this thing.

As long as it keeps to the left and out of the way it should be fine.

This is SA.... people here have no clue what "Keep left, pass right" means, never mind the loads of other laws that seem to not exist anymore like Stop for orange, waiting for green before you cross.

I stopped counting how many times slow drivers do the yellow lane slip/skip and try and push in front just to slow you down again. Use to be only Minibus Taxis now it seems to be the norm. Now Imagine loads of these pulling that maneuver, that takes "years" to get to 60kph in a 80 zone.

This is true. I occasionally on the N1 see people going 80 on the far right lane with an angry driver behind them trying to figure out why the **** the guy is going 80

Sadly you're probably spot on.

The Qute is so cute though

Will introduce many people to motoring.

It is a cute city driver, but also a cute death trap on a national road. It must be terrifying passing one of these say on the Grabouw pass.

Imagine someone in Cute tries to overtake a truck on a national road in a single lane?

Then again, the truck will be moving far faster than the Cute.

Too many of these vehicles on a national road will be pretty much be to the same degree of product dumping.

For inner-city travel I don't see a issue with this vehicle, but our roads as with many other countries are design for fast and intermediary travel.

The seller is pushing this into a far bigger use case than it is designed for.

I see someone got impatient and gave this one a gentle nudge.

LOL! Indeed.
Probably taking too long to get up a hill.

This vehicle makes more sense as a security car in an estate, IMO. I know in our estate the guards use golf carts which are not ideal when it’s raining, this thing would be great for them, but for large public roads and highways? Big yikes
