Does anybody know why Balwin Properties Fibre only have 4 ISP's on their network to choose from? Not really much a choice and the pricing is also a bit crazy.

I live in a Balwin estate and we have 1 option, Herotel. So count yourself lucky. Although I'm finally happy with the fibre, it was a struggle to get better pricing and packages for the first few years.Does anybody know why Balwin Properties Fibre only have 4 ISP's on their network to choose from? Not really much a choice and the pricing is also a bit crazy.

Yeah but none of those would be my 1st choice. The pricing is also a bit concerning. There are plenty of better FNO's out there. Just curious as to why limit their customers.
@VlakVark_ZA what isps would be first choice ?

I wouldn't touch WebAfrica with a 10 foot pole.
RSAWeb is my current ISP and to be honest they aren't very good. They are the 1st ISP that I have personally used that charges a "downgrade fee" of R250.00. Pretty crazy if you ask me.
Purchasing new property a stressful situation and the last thing I want to struggle with is finding a proper ISP. My ISP of choice would be Cape Connect as pricing is reasonable, they have a dual stack network and by the looks of things their connections come with a static public IPv4 address. Most other ISP's I have to pay extra for that static IPv4 and some can't even offer it as a extra.

@portcullis Why aren't you on Balwin? Your town is riddled with their developments.
@VlakVark_ZA understandable, I know a guy, will chat to the team over there, currently they are not onboarding additional ISPs
We've reached out in the past and been told they're "currently not onboarding ISPs". Always happy to join new FNOs who are looking for more ISPs.

Yes, Balwin have numerous developments in Somerset West and the Western Cape.
Yes. We receve numerous requests from potential clients wanting to use us on Balwin's network.
Balwin used to have SADV install fibre in their estates. They then decided to rather do it themselves - not unlike Faircape. We reached out to Balwin and were told they are not on boarding new ISPs.
That was before Supersonic existed, who I see has been on boarded.

If that is the response of Balwin's FNO network, then I would walk away from any property they (Balwin Properties) develop.
They will always have the monopoly as well; doubt they will allow another FNO into their development to make themselves more competitive.

Yeah would never wanna stay in one of their places, they just turn into slums in the end polo fields by one of the internals I know have been referring to that development as little Nigeria
