the_abused said:I FEEL I am stuck in a time warp and am experiencing déjà vu all at once.
I join the thousands if not millions of sufferers who experience the mind- altering brush with your friendly “ISP for life” service provider.
My recent quest for knowledge involves my DSL usage data, which is kindly e-mailed to me every Monday morning. This informs me of how much bandwidth I have consumed during the current month, from where I can ascertain how much I have left.
So far so good, except there is another locale where one can glean the “same” data, namely: SAIX, found here http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/. Simply enter your user name, password etc and there before you is all you need to know. BUT!! This is not the same data usage you receive in your e-mail. In fact, the information discrepancy would cause an excessive-compulsive to choke. For example 32MB vs 200MB.
They do give you an e-mail address where you can report bandwidth abuse (sounds like a perversion), but it seems your inquiry disappears into that other dimension physicists are still busy trying to understand.
As for the telephonic route, all I can add is that I am almost driven to dementia by that overplayed – top of the pops – “we are experiencing high call volumes . . .” anthem.
So what now? Are we going to be informed of “bandwidth shedding” soon, or should I just accept that my paid-for bandwidth usage is actually a perk and as such subject to change at anytime?
