Hi all,

I have a problem with my inet...

As of Tuesday 13 Aug I had 2.7gigs bw available... I left my pc on for 3 hours yesterday WITH NO dl's running yet I get this report today:

Date: 14-Aug-2008
Uploaded: 222.79 MB
Downloaded: 3,774.21 MB
Combined Total: 3,997.00 MB
Remaining: 1,123.00 MB

Date: 13-Aug-2008
Uploaded: 167.20 MB
Downloaded: 2,225.98 MB
Combined Total: 2,393.17 MB
Remaining: 2,726.83 MB

My question is: is there a program that I can use to check what is siphoning bw from my PC?

For those of you wondering if I'm doing windows Update, I've set it to manual... and I block any other updates unless I specify otherwise.

Thanks in advance

I would personally place the blame on iBurst's bandwidth monitor. I downloaded a mere 500mb worth of data on day one of the month and found that I had somehow magically done 2.5 gigs worth minutes later. (Thereby nulling my cap)

Most would tell me to give them a call about it but if there's one thing their helpdesk is great at it's giving people an incentive NOT to call them.

As for a program, I suggest Wireshark. Have it running and check the mac addresses it lists when sending and recieving data. Spiffy and free http://www.wireshark.org/download.html

Great stuff!
After getting Netlimiter, it monitored that i used around 20MB last nite

Date: 15-Aug-2008
Uploaded: 223.83 MB
Downloaded: 3,784.51 MB
Combined Total: 4,008.35 MB
Remaining: 1,111.65 MB

Looks like things are looking good... will continue to monitor this.

Not quite as bad here but I have seen some unexplained spikes here too. The help desk doesn't see a problem but are we beginning to see a trend?

Hmmm...ok so it wasn't only me, I've been capped since the 8th but no one in my family downloaded anything big and my pc was pretty much off for the 1st week cause of varsity and so on...

This is the second month that it's happened... at least now I have proof that it's not from my side. Fek... guess things were too good to be true :(

Some major discrepencies here, I used up my cap on the 16th which reflected on the 17th somehow whilest being capped I managed to do just under 2gigs of downloads... yet on netlimiter it shows for the period of the 17-18 I did 414MB on the 17th and 219MB on the 18th, which makes a total of 633MB.

proof:

so HTF?

Have put in a suggestion that we seriously look at putting in a smoothwall firewall on our iburst sites - from what I understand is that somebody downloaded games and capped the iburps account thusly...

This way we will be able to block certain sites whilst having full functionality (email, ftp etc), and be able to monitor bandwidth usage better.

I'm also losing loads of MB out of nowhere. A week ago I did only 100MB in half a day (running Netlimiter and Bandwidth Monitor) and lo and behold iBurst says i did 890MB !!!!!!

Calling Helpdesk was pointless as per usual....

Edited portion

shove it iBurst...... on principle ! ;)

According to netlimiter did 159MB this morning, and 354MB yesterday so I'm guessing I don't have anymore bandwidth to lose anymore...

I know they're reading these posts and i would just like to point out one thing Dear iburst trolls......

"happy hour" still happens...

I.....S-T-I-L-L....... D-O-W-N-L-O-A-D...........40GB +..... A... M-O-N-T-H

So take that and shove it iBurst...... on principle ! ;)

Could it be that your "happy hour" happens to be when you get assigned an IP that the system thinks belongs to some other user that has not reached their cap yet?

Just thinking out loud...

watch him bitch when he find out the service will no longer work next month lmao!

Hey, i'm not hacking anything and i don't even know how but that's what happens. And if what you're wondering out aloud is what is actually happening then they have yet another problem on their hands.

The only constant vaiable in all of this is that iBurst screws up, they screw users and they screw themselves.

watch him bitch when he find out the service will no longer work next month lmao!

Don't think so fishy, i've been with them on month to month since day one and they can't nail me on "disconnecting" since the contract I signed waaaay back stated nothing of that nature. I've been down that road before with them and they connected me 30min after supposedly cutting me due to the "usual" excuse they give.So no need to lyao just yet hun.

you be a lady? pity what you said is not waht iburst believes. :( They nail you for anything they feel like... the over debit, the cut-off due to excessive usage, the pay for migration crap which WAS never in force when I signed my contract... yet their new policy is they can change what they want and how they want.
oh don't forget this probelm I'm having... I've just spoken 4 guys who feels that they are loosing bandwidth each month.

Such a pity a great technology is being wasted because the company has a few monkies manning the accounts and helpdesk.

wtf is "loosing" ?

Legally the original contract is still binding since that is what i signed and not once since the original signing did i downgrade or upgrade thereby NOT entering into a NEW contract and NEW conditions . According to a lawyer i consulted. And me explaining that little fact to them is what got me reconnected so quickly after they tried to be all "gung-ho" about disconnecting me.

I'm having the exact same problem of mysteriously losing (not "loosing") loads of MB but since they are kind enough to return to me what i've lost by them screwing up then i can't really complain.

I'm off to Neotel as of September, anything right now is better than iBurst.
