Hi Guys

I need some technical / expert assistance please?

Complaints and such things against Telkom no longer reach the media (if ever) so I always looked for something somewhere what I can use to give Telkom hell.

I have two ADSL accounts.

1) Reached 2.99 GB on 14 February - Since then the usage statistics stayed on 2.99 GB

2) Since 15 February I used the second account and the statistics steadily increase each day.

On 24 February the usage statistics for the first account increased to 4.14.

There is simply no way so far as that I know that the modem would be able to connect to the first account while it's configured for the second and active account.

a) If the port used to connect is the same as mine then it's as clear as daylight that it's Telkom side. Problems / errors with the bandwidth counter etc - Why else is their usage tracker offline during past 2 days.

b) If the port is different it's bandwidth theft by someone using my used id and password.

I doubt it that somebody used my username and password since it never happened before and why NOW when the Telkom Usage Tracker is offline?

I am almost sure that the Telkom usage tracker that is offline have something to do with the increase of bandwidth from 2.99 to 4.14 without the account even being used and if I can get any confirmation of this I think it would be possible to lay a charge of bandwidth theft against Telkom.

Anyone else experienced the same increase of usage for an account not in use?

You wanna hear a funny joke... each day that I've not used my Telkom account, my usage stats have DECREASED.

Last week it was 11GB (downloads) and then Friday it dropped to 7GB, and now it's 5GB.

You wanna now explain THAT to me?!?! :)

You want my thoughts, Telkom's usage software is as FUBAR as the company in question.

Frankc, have you checked the connections made on your account? I think you can view them on TelkomInternet Tracker, SAIX ADSL Stats and SASA ADSL Stats utility.

Could very well be TIT messing you around though, some people have reported both decreases and increases in usage with it...

looks like someone's using your account. just change your account passwords (you can do this at telkom.co.za) and your router's password (so the account details can't be hacked again) and the problem's solved.

Same thing with me. I was on 5 gigs usage, today i get the usage mail from telkominternet saying i'm on 2.8 gigs, so i reconnect my account and voila, uncapped again :)
