Anybody out there having really mad results from the bandwidth useage website? according to it I did 1.5G in less than 5 hours. Come to think of it, is there anybody left on a classic package? Thats a bit difficult to achieve in a 128 classic package. I dont suppose it helps to contact anybody at sentech or norepy.
 
surrprise surrprise i am also on classic 128k - i have never checked my usage in 3yrs - they phonend me once and told me i should slow down a bit - they wont get mad at u if u DL say 13gig in one month if it is a one time thing
 
I was beginning to think it was only me. After starting the month on a slow note, I decided to download a couple of things and to my surprise I did nearly 4 gigs (according to Sentech and on 256 Classic) in 12 hours on Friday. But my own usage meter says I did just over a gig. Well, after this I decided not to do any further downloading over the weekend only to wake up this morning and see that I supposedly pulled down an additional 8 gigs on Saturday and Sunday and my computer wasn't even on... Is it even possible to pull 4 gigs a day on a 256 connection?
 
Even worse - I'm having the same problem with a Flexi account!

Question: Are your passwords identical to your Sentech usernames?
 
aha.. so I am not going bossies. My password and useage name are different, and I have changed the password this morning too "just in case". The million dollar questions are, will we get nasty deductions from our bank accounts at the end of the month? Is it worth phoning anybody about? Is ProAsm able to "sneak a peek" and let us know whats going on? Is there life on other planets?
 
Changed my password on Monday and without doing any downloading I still had another 4 gigs added to my account. Checked again this morning and wait for it... another 4 gigs added. Remember that this is on a 256 connection and the best I've ever done before was just over 2 gigs in a day with my computer on for 24 hours.

I don't think it could be someone else logging in on my username because if they did then I wouldn't be able to log in at the same time. WTF Sentech, wtf? Can't wait to see if they steal another 4 gigs from my account tomorrow...
 
Yep, I have logged nearly 5G since friday, which on a 128 classic is really difficult considering I am only on for roughly 5 hours an evening. My guess is the website is crazy, but to actually get anybody to take cognisance of it is like trying to find an honest politician. I feel sorry for those flexi users......
Yet another reason to ditch sentech when my contract is up.

I would get ADSL if I could get 20 gigs international that works properly on torrents and other p2p applications for the same price I pay Sentech.

Miracles can happen, 4 gigs wasn't stolen from my account today. According to the website I've used 37 gigs this month and I haven't received a phone call, makes me wonder if I could download that amount every month :D

If these errors are caused by the website being faulty, I suspect that they will only fix it on the last day of the month so they can save some bandwith.
 
I phoned noreply today and they said they will contact sentech and get my stats. I also saw the bandwidth was down to just over a 100M since yesterday and thats about right for what I use daily.

I would get ADSL but live in rental accomodation and am liable to decide to move at any time, being tied into a contract with telegum isnt an option because of their reputation for customer service (or lack thereof). Wireless suits me fine becuase of the portability, I have had almost 22 months of pretty good service from sentech with very few problems and to be frank I am quite happy with it, unfortunately when things do go pear shaped then it is really serious because there is nobody to help. Sadly my nice classic pacakge has min dae and I am going to have to find an alternative.

But you don't have to have a contract with Telkom
 
OhGats u dont need too renew your classic (beside the point that they not sell them any more ) u just dont cancel it and it will go on - i have been on a month to month with a classic for the last 12+ months with no contract
 
When I took out sentech almost 2 years ago thinsg were different when it came to ADSL, if I remember right telegum was the only bunch where you could get DSL and they wanted a 2 year contract. Things have changed since then and I may relook at the whole DSL thing, but its interesting to read what BlackChameleon says, did you take the contract out with no reply? or sentech direct? oooooooooooooh I hate making decisions like this.

cryptic - i am on a 128k classic 10gig a month - and yes soft cap.....but i have never seen the soft cap ....i play nice :)
