Banking app fraud warning

One thing the useless networks can do is to stop the ease of getting the PUK number. They should have a password on PUK number request.

I know this applies when the phone is stolen when it is still locked.
 
How big a loss is this to SARS ?

Or do the proceeds get spent lically, so SARS is not impacted much.

This is an interesting problem. Couldn't a criminal who has held you hostage, force you to download the banking app, or text your family members to pay ransom money - this is what the Grindr gang does when they kidnap people; they text family members to pay ransom apparently.

It is sad that we have gotten to this situation. Banking apps on your phone are no longer safe. Maybe what you are suggesting might be best for now - don't place any banking apps on your main cell phone.

I don't mind using a banking app on my device because when they access my profile and see the balance, they'll be like...

I do what's safest for me and mine. I've found it annoying how an entire underworld industry has sprung up around phone banking apps so quickly. It was supposed to be safe. "With biometrics!" Woo! So amazing. Turns out that's worth very little in non-secure locations.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If the crooks in SA put as much effort and creativity into something good and productive as they do into finding new ways to crime, SA would be a world leader in innovation.

I still say that organized crime can only be successful as far as is allowed by government. Organized crime needs a level of legal and political... let's call it collaboration and stability to prosper too.

My app is running on my 2015 model Samsung J5. So slow that they'll lose interest (pun not intended) before the app finishes loading.
