I think more people would be more familiar with the term gastric bypass surgery. It does appear to have helped a lot of people who have failed to lose weight using other methods.

... but can have some nasty (and permanent) side effects, so it really should be a very last resort.

Or you could just eat less. Same effect but a lot cheaper.
