Bas1ard Insurance componies!!

Citi Golfs are on the Insurance Hit list, they hear about this car and flags start to raise.
We got an email a while back about insurance companys that either refused to insure them or loaded premiums

A&G, Budget, Dial Direct and F4W are all part of the same group, thats why you were uninsurable with them.
Ask me i know, i was once declined insurance by them and i was staff:mad:

On another forum they found this out via the IP's of their websites. And they are all crap anyway. I am also uninsurable by them all because many years ago they stole my car out the driveway. Funny how that something like that leaves you with a black mark for life!!!!

Did you insist on a toyota approved repairer?

Yes - found out recently that the panel beater they used wasn't one. They also used pirate parts, which I made them swap out - started a thread on here about it.

The new one is Toyota Approved, and I have it in writing - the previous one was literally a backyard mechanic.

The point I am trying to make is they made her insurance relatively low for the first year just to get her there, then bump it by 50% after the first year even though she didn't claim.

how's this for a good premium.

2000 BMW 330i + 1995 Toyota Corolla 160 + 2004 Ford Bantam 1.8di + 2007 Toyota Verso + R300 000 HH = +- R2000.00

maybe someone can recommend one? I can't recommmend mine cause he only does corporates.

Did your sister compare prices when she first took out her ensurance? I phoned 6 different places getting quotes.
I am not sure? Because i only found out about the price she is paying a few days ago . . .and said its BS:D

Great, always insist on an approved repairer no matter what, i think everyone should do the same, that way you have backing, if something goes wrong, you can go back to the ombudsman, SAMBRA and the motor manufacturer to get things sorted. Especially if you have a vehicle on a motorplan, after repairs insist that the vehicle be sent to a dealership for a quality check in order to avoid nasty suprises next time your vehicle goes for a service or something.

For real? I'm replacing my stolen toyota tazz with a 2nd hand citi golf because its all I can afford with the insurance payout. If I fit a bunch of security features will I get a better deal insurance wise? I'm 23, so I have a feeling I could be in trouble finding low insurance premiums.

Some insurance companies refuse to insure Golfs now because they are such high-risk vehicles.

No surprise the usual crooks at Alexander Forbes jumped graciously like the dogs they are at the opportunity. I look forward to reading stories of hard-done Golf Drivers in the noseweek in the future.,

23, citi golf, red flags my friend, they will hammer you with premiums unless a broker negotiates for you. What can be fitted to a golf that can make it safe. Tracking device does not work, you have like 2 places to hide the damn thing, before you can say the word stolen that unit will be out laying in some empty veld, the car will be sold for parts by the time they get to the unit, alarms and gear locks are useless now. Try and stick to a tazz or something, golfs are very nice thats why they get stolen so much, because there is a huge market for them out there.

I work with a guy who bought a 2005 1.4 citi golf, he got a quote for R1200 insurance, it was eventually brought down by what i can only imagine is either a dodgy broker or a very good broker and he's 25 by the way.
we did a test on that, i am 25 as well, i got a quote for a 2003 BMW M3 E46 and the premiums were like R1500. Not a big difference, considering an M3 is like 5 times more expensive than the golf, but far less risky as they cant basically steal it, they hi-jack them, but even that, the hi-jacker will loose control and write the thing off anyway lol

Now you have it in as many words why many insurers refuse now point blank to insure Golf's

I don't think my insurance company wants me anymore, I was paying less than R200 a month on the tazz's insurance. They quoted ~R1500 for a golf, R1600+ if I got another tazz and even more if I went for a corrolla. :(

Hopefully the special golf insurance from forbes/vw will give a better deal.
