So I need to source a basic entry-level machine for a relative. They check their mail and go on Facebrick and do some basic web browsing / online banking and that's about it. They were using a laptop that somehow blew its mobo. They do not travel with the machine at all so do not need portability.

Obviously, being on a fixed income they don't want to spend an absolute fortune. It has been a few years since I even looked at this stuff, so I have no clue where to look. I don't particularly want to order components and build something up, would rather order a pre-built so everything works and I don't need to stress.

What would be the best place to look. Looking at new so they can get max time under warranty.

Check Carbonite for second hand desktops. Should be plenty cheapies there that still have a few good years of use left in them.

Convince them to rather go with a tablet.

Anything with 8GB RAM and Intel i3-7100 or newer will be more than enough. Hell, the i3-10100 is better than a 2014 i7-4790
