Just stay away from Incredible Corruption.

What OS did they previous machine use? Stick with that.
If Windows try and a avoid WIN 10 Home although it is not really a problem.

Tablets are a huge issue generally because the keyboards on screen are too small.

Something like this will work, with the SSD one would not even notice it only has 4GB RAM
Some refurbished machines can be real gems. I have two refurbished laptops for my children and both have been really good. My daughter uses hers for school work and some Sims 4. Refurbished are worth considering, especially if you can get one with an SSD installed.

Good luck avoiding Windows 10 on a new machine, heck even old 2nd hand ones come pre-upgaded to 10 now. Linux will be too much of a learning curve for them and Apple will be way out of the budget

Que? https://zorinos.com/ looks just like Windows 7. Heck there's even a Windows XP skin for Raspberry Pi OS https://www.tomshardware.com/news/windows-raspberry-pi-xp-linux-raspbian-professional.

Yea i was expecting the fanbois to chime in, next the apple sheep will come in and tout their wares...

No matter how much they make it look like windows, it will always be linux. Most people dont want to learn anything new , or for the odd small time they need to run a command, learn how linux uses command line stuff.

As the OP said, Vleisbroek, banking, basic browsing, chances are he wants zero hassle (from using a different OS environment at least) and the people using the machine too.
Heck he even said pre-built as he doesnt want stress

A Celeron NUC with a SSD, the performance increase on the SSD blows cheap laptops out of the water. You can also select a larger screen which can be useful.
