This morning, I went into a local computer shop. The person who I normally deal with was on his way out with a client. One of the counter assistants asked if he could help me. I asked him if they had the Canon CanoScan 9000F scanner. He looked almost glad to tell me that it isn't in stock. He didn't offer to find out availability or offer a substitute.

I replied, "Is that it? Should I go then?". My regular contact, who was still in the store, intervened and said to the assistant, "Take his name and phone number and call him back with the price." Assistant took my name.

He has both a home number and a cell number. That was this morning. I am still waiting for his call.

.

Imagine the attitude if you had to return the scanner. That's why you should always check out service before buying anything.

That is really sad when people do that

i believe if you upset a customer with bad service then you potentially lose a few others too coz they speak about their experience. :(

you just did....

Gosh that is horrendous, I do hope you manage to get some sleep tonight.
Its almost as bad, as say someone posting an off topic item in current affairs.

oopsy :)

oopsy again :)

just dont see why this is current affairs and its not such a big issue, if you get crap service go elsewhere

95% of people employed at computer shops know bugger all about computers. The most that they know is the sales pitch that they have been told by suppliers and by stock controllers trying to move stock. They're salesman, not computer experts.

Every time I ask for information on a product and the guy picks up the box and reads specs at me I die a little inside.

Trying to get advice about graphics cards is like drawing blood from a stone.

It's nice when you find someone who knows what they're doing though. For example, at Computer Mania in Cavendish Square even a basically computer literate person knows more than the sales people do....however the guy who fixes and tests computers at the back (can't remember his name) is very competant. In fact, he is one of only 2 people in the world who I would trust to handle any of my computer hardware (quite something when you consider that I don't even trust myself with my own hardware).

A guy at IC suggested I get a serial key from the internet when a game wouldn't activate with the supplied serial. Nice.
