Batch conversion of RAW files

Hi all. Does anybody have any suggestions on software for Windows Vista to do a batch conversion of RAW files? i have around 700 photo's to convert and doing them individually is going to take some time and lots of patience that i dont have :/
i know DPP did it but i dont think it works on Vista unless im wrong

oh i forgot to add i have photoshop cs3
 
I'm sure you'll be able to do it with a macro in Photoshop. I use one in Photoshop 7 to convert all my greyscale 16-bit TIF images to 8-bit JPEGs (Word and WordPerfect can't read 16-bit greyscale). Maybe have a look and see whether that'll work for you.
 
Why do you want to convert them en masse?

I only convert from raw to another format when I have a specific reason to.

i was going to give the photo's to a friend and they dont have any RAW viewers or converters. so i figured it would be easier if i just gave it to them in jpeg
 
Dpp should do it or even picasa. Alternatively you could trial adobe Lightroom - though you'll probably want to buy it!
 
the DPP i got with my camera was only for windows XP and im running Vista.
so maybe i must try and get hold of Lightroom and give that a shot.
or else i should just install XP again on a separate partition and use DPP
 
Lol thats a bit extreme

http://www.irfanview.com/ is able to read Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Olympus, Fuji, Kodak, Sony, Pentax (CRW/CR2, NEF, MRW, ORF, RAF, DCR, SRF, PEF, X3F) RAW formats, and "classical" RAW files (using a plug-in, but you can get those on the IV site, plug-ins page)...

w/ irfan you can easily batch convert images using File->"Batch Conversion/Rename"...

very simple and effective... and for free

oh yeah i would need to do some touch ups on the photo's but they'll look fine for my friends who dont have eye's like ours :)
but the photo's that i do decide to keep ill definitely do individually

In future - provided you have plenty of memory cards at your disposal - you could always shoot RAW+JPG

i actually forgot about that on saturday. i only have 2x 2gig cards so space is a lil limited. but depending on where i go i can tag my laptop with to download the photo's so the next time i'll give that a bash
