Batman - Arkham Knight

I haven't played any of the previous Batman games before, but I am really loving this on PS4:). Everything feels so well designed. There's plenty of interesting characters and exciting side quests. I know this might seem like a dumb question, but does it always rain and is it always night-time in the game? If so, why exactly? I don't really like the constant rain effects. The graphics aren't as impressive as I thought they would be, but still very good. The number of different gadgets and combat moves seem overwhelming.

The game takes place over a single night it seems. So one set of weather conditions and only night skies.

Probably won't happen within the next 2 weeks if I had to wager a guess. I'll wait before I start playing until they release a patch that improves performance and enables me to play with the higher res textures.

Not good enough. Screw the "console experience"! I'm way too proud to stoop to this level.I'm going to wait for the price to drop (which probably will happen in this December). Right now I'm content with slaying monsters in The Witcher 3 every day :D

Report: Warner knew about Batman: Arkham Knight PC issues 'for months'

"I will say that it's pretty rich for WB to act like they had no idea the game was in such a horrible state," a quality assurance tester who had worked on Batman: Arkham Knight and its troubled PC port "for years" told Kotaku. "It's been like this for months and all the problems we see now were the exact same, unchanged, almost a year ago."

The quality of the PC release of Rocksteady's latest (critically lauded) Batman installment was immediately called into question, culminating in its removal from the Steam marketplace just a day later. At the time, publisher Warner Bros. released a statement which read, in part:

We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards. We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.

But a report from Kotaku citing multiple anonymous sources on the project would indicate that the state of the PC release was no surprise to the publisher, which had overseen performance issues in the game for some time, across platforms, ultimately resulting in the game's delay from October 2014 to June 2015 (and again to late June 2015).

"Getting it to work on consoles was impossible for months," Kotaku's QA source said. "That's part of why the game got delayed so many times, they were totally unprepared for how hard it was on next-gen consoles."

They added, "We reported literally thousands of bugs that were specific to the PC version relating to the frame rate. All sorts of ****ed up texture issues. The Batmobile in particular has always ****ed things up on PC."

The issues with testing Arkham Knight included the usual scope of an open-world game, coupled with the unfamiliarity of new console hardware, an unusually aggressive approach to secrecy that limited the game's exposure to third-party testing firms, and a primary developer focused on consoles first. The Kotaku story has more details, including some background on WB's recent PC releases — from the solid Shadow of Mordor PC release to the messy Mortal Kombat X.

If you follow to the Kotaku link, you can get more detail.

I love stories like this. They made a poor decision, they thought they could get away with it, and its only because of the Steam refunds they had to rework it.

It makes me so happy to see an exec make a poor decision and get into trouble because of it. I wish I could taste his salty tears as he packs up his desk (like Cartman)

Cool!

Note to self: Buy The Witcher 3 . . .

Really wish the patch would come out soon, even though I know its probably still weeks away :(
Having this game just sitting in steam taunting me, and me being to proud to play it on the gfx that we have at the moment is killing me.

You didn't get a refund?

Yeah. I really want to play it, but the frame rate drops are just too annoying. It runs smooth and then it just jitters.

You didn't get a refund?

Nah. I still really want to play it.

You didn't get a refund?

It was one of those codes that you get with the Nvidia cards, so can't really get a refund.
Also I still want to play it on PC, I just want to play it the way it was intended to look before they started cutting corners / stopped caring.

I still play it even it bad :( But I will play new games if the patch sorted out.
