Is this open to everyone on Console (PS4) to download for free from the 31st October?

PREPARE FOR WAR ON AN EPIC SCALE

It's Time to Deploy
You're a Battlefield Insider, which means you can get into the Battlefield 1 Beta* starting... now.*

It includes Conquest and Rush modes in Sinai Desert, a map set in the Middle Eastern theater of World War I. If you reach rank 15 and play on a least four different days, you will unlock a Battlefield 1 Beta Dog Tag** when the game launches on October 21.Below, you’ll find a code to redeem in Origin. Please note: This code is specifically for your account, so do not share this with anyone.

No local servers tho...that dampens my enthusiasm somewhat.

I've heard from a few mates who have been playing the beta that their latencies in game were sub 100ms, which means is that we do have local servers, but obviously we're only restricted to matchmaking (without a server browser). Not sure if DICE intends to add one or not, let's wait and see.

Which version? PC version has server browser.

Was just playing it. Didn't notice any lag. Odd thing is the server browser shows the servers at 180-ish ping but in-game its 60ms to 80ms depending on server. So I'm not sure how it is reading it, maybe the server browser reads ping different then in game reading.

They display half the actual ping ingame, so only the time from you to the server, not the roundtrip time.

What are the chances I'll be able to play if I signed up for the Insider program today? :p

The 1 or 2 is hidden behind the latency icon/bar. Look closely at your ping and the icon, and compare it to others.

well apart from all the ping discussions... How is the actual game okes? Better than BF4? Hardline? I'm gonna download it tonight (will take me 10 years on my stupid 1mb line)

Well for me it's fun.

I didn't play a lot of BF4 as it never really hooked me and the "modern warfare" genre became a bit stale in my opinion. BF1 is like a breath of fresh air, different theater of war and the random sandstorm effect that can occur at any point during a match is really a sight to behold if you have the hardware to back it up and really changes how the game plays out as it not only affects your ability to see, but your ability to hear enemies and gunfire as well.

I might end up pre-ordering it as it runs really well and for a beta it's very optimized and runs good on my i5 2500k & GTX 970 setup. In my opinion, the slow download you're facing is worth the wait ;)

Having so many issues with Origin. Uninstalled it ages ago and took me a good 2 hours to get it installed. Now I can't download games due to another issue. Origin WHY!

If you don't have the hardware for things like sandstorms. Can you then switch them off? Basically giving you an unfair advantage?

Hope we get local servers in the full game.
400+ ping on the lowest servers in the browser is unbearable.
Rear-gunner = impossibru on international servers.
