Battlefield 2

ive never shot down a plane with AA

why do you AA missiles not lock onto an enemy tank

not enough heat or something?

it wont lock but if they or you are close enough you can shoot them and hope they hit the tank/APC, wont damage too much but if its already smoking the chances are good that you will blow it up.

as for planes with AA... you need luck to actually get the missiles to go after the right plane, i always shoot either head-on to the plane as i know he spotted me or as soon as his tail is visible. But 80% of the time it wont hit. :(

I just looove the AA's guns to clear out the BH's compartment of the engineers/medics... they trickle out of the heli like rice grains... :D

I'm trying the "backside-of-the-wheel" tactic on the BH flag hopping whores. (Sorry this sometimes includes me)
One shot with a AT rocket on the inside of a BH wheel and it goes pop.

Small moving bullseye :(

Yeah, I noticed last night - the 32 player server had something like 28 players, and there was only 1 player on the MEC team. Fun fun.

But then I was playing on server #1, also with ATB switched off, yet the teams were perfectly balanced. 30 players a side.

I suppose it just depends on whether all the @ssholes join one server and hog a team ;)

voip wasnt workin either so i dunno whats goin on but i think it has something to with deomon thing thats kicking for swearing

glad to have supplied the info for that on the SGS forums... hehehe... its bloddy hard to hit the wheel when the chopper's in the air though... certainly worth a nasty surprise to them if it works.

so ATB is off now? mmmm... weekend is approaching and its the only time i get to play now, have lost a bit of interest lately after some silly players teed me off last time.. sigh...

VOIP was working fine for me, but the lag was fckin' baaaad on the server.

They switched ATB back on, on server 1, while I was playing last night. It was 40 vs 20, which made for a short game, so the admin enabled it again and the next game was a nice 32 vs 32 one.

I was on server one last night, the lag was horrid.

As much as I hate chopper whoring, I must say it got me a great score last night :P

They need to balance those choppers. make you bail to capture a flag at least. Oh and a little bit of natural physics wouldn't hurt - Kubra dam the guys are parking in the Pipes under the dam!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the lag contributed to the nice kills I got while flying around in Gulf of Oman :p (Well..nice for me at any rate - I don't usually fly)

battlefield 2 patch 1.03

Here is some changes

According to the site, the patch will be released towards the end of August and will include over 140 fixes and improvements. Among those fixes and improvements provided by the upcoming patch:

"Server and Client performance improvements.

Improved Server Browser - added Favorites and History Lists.

Point-farming prevention - game will stop Support/Medic/Engineer point farming exploits.

Squads - locked squad leader will get a message if someone wants to join.

Many HUD improvements - see the names of others in your vehicle, zoom level changing depending on vehicle, map zoom depending on map setup (16, 32 or 64 player map) etc.

Teamkilling changes - the logic of how teamkills are tracked will be changed.

Gameplay tweaks - the way transport helicopters work will be tweaked.

Additional scoring changes - players who destroy an enemy commander's assets will be given points."

the servers were an absolute mess last night, i took my squad to the mec side to balance the teams and we quickly realised what bunch of idiots were on our side, then voip died, then server died, then everyone went on usa, then on the one map we killed EVERYONE on the opposite side and had to wait about 7 minutes before the server realised this and then let us start the next map!

Yes, I was also "impressed" with the people flying a chopper down that pipe not much wider than the chopper body, or flying around in that room with the flag in the dam wall.

I must say, I do not like the stupid dam map. I like it nice and personal, aka on foot, so getting it from choppers in the wide open areas while walking around looking for somebody to shoot is just not fun. And trying to get away from a chopper with the lag was nearly impossible.

Welcome to the new kind of warfare gkm.

Go back to BF1942 if you want to walk around the map.

BF2 is all about machines, fast transport and teamwork on a global scale.
The only time you should be walking is if your transport is injured, and you should then call for a pickup on a global level, or you're guarding a flag.

You walk, and there are 10 or so snipers and people in choppers with freaking powerful weapons, not to mention the fraking artillery just waiting for you.

Well, I do drive or hitch a ride whenever I can. But when one spawns at a flag and there is no action and no vehicles around, then wait for another minute or so defending the flag and still nothing, then it looks like time to start walking. :( On the smaller maps one can at least get somewhere that way. On the bigger maps it is simply an invitation for a chopper.

And the last couple of rides I had with chopper pilots were mostly "watch out for that tree" material like in the George of the Jungle movie. I guess if I played a bit more I would know a bit better who to trust as pilots.

It is just that I enjoy a nice intense firefight around a flag. And to try to C4 the chopper or get it with a tank. :D

When I spawn and there's no vehicles for like 20 seconds, I demand a pickup till I get one. I found that once one person in the squad starts to communicate, everyone starts to have their say, and the next thing you're behaving like a team which is more fun.
