Battlefield 2

Yes, the small b and big B thing can get very confusing at times.

My BFHQ stats on BF2 says I have played 25 hours last month. And I know I have used about 1.8GB for that. This works out at just over 1MB per minute.

well scandium there are other things that contribute to lag like experience

if you aa is on 4 and you have a 6600 normal will lag
if you have little ram
if your setting are high and you have a small card
if sound is set to high

maybe you need to tweak settings or something
i got no lag last night but i was playing on the 32 player server

yeah, you bugger, kept blasting me with your AT shotgun...

I'm averaging about 60-100Mb a night for 1-3 hours, BF2 traffic only.

I've played 5 nights a week for the last month and my total usage is about 2.2Gb.

I still have to wait for a week till i get my copy Grrrrr..
so do you'll have any pointers for a newbie to BF2

Mkay - so the 30 hours of BF2 = 3GB should be taken as worst case scenario ?

Lets see - 5 nights a week = 20 nights a month = 2.2Gb.
2.2 / 20 = 0.11. So every night you used about 0.11 GB.

0.11 * 30 = 3.3GB if you played for 30 nights at that rate...
Wow - and Teklom recons 3 GB is enough.

You abuser you.

That sounds like the most likely reason for my lag last night. Yesterday evening I changed my graphics setting to high and tested in single player and it was working fine. Then I changed it to medium before I started playing, just to be on the safe side. Seems it was unfortunately not safe enough.

Thank you very much for the good the tip killa. I would have never thought that would be the cause of my problems and may have stopped playing BF2 if things carried on like they did last night.

What can I say, I'm a bandwidth demon ;)

CYBER-SAINT, tips for a Noob:

1. If the tag above it is green or blue DON'T shoot it, hit it, drive into it, or blow it up.
(If the tag above it is red, jump up and down waving your arms in the air and try to make friends with it ;) )

2. If you're not sure, let other people drive.

3. Always join a squad AND WORK WITH IT! If you share a vehicle you share each others points so work together.

4a. this isn't Quake / Unreal / Counter Strike. Jumping like a bunny only makes you look like a dork . . . .

4b. Shoot in short bursts, and try to stay still when you do, or you just spray everywhere.

5. If you see me online say hi :)

Oh and has anyone check out this site before? It's awesome:

did you order your bf2 online, CYBER-SAINT?

bunny hoppers... its looks extremely stupid, and yet it works... i dont use this tactic unfortunately cause i've never played CS or Quake3 online. but those that do use it seem to have the upper hand.

it has happened so many times that i shoot at a bastid with my AT rocket and the maroon just happens to jump over it. i mean, this guy sees me, starts hopping, i take aim, fire, and he just happens to jump over my rocket. result? i get pistol whipped or sprayed with bullets. its enough to make you hopping mad...

I've started doing it after succesfully managing to hop a jeep, u-turning and blowing it to AT bits.
Use the hop wizely sayz me.
Hopping too frequently will just get you shot in the balls, but a hop at a run puts you in his face one-time quick to blow it off with that awesome AT Shotgun.

i hope patch 1.03 nerfs bunny hopping... i never saw Rambo or Arnold bunny hopping when they took on the cartel or the russians... :D

'Xactly . . . .

eye_suc, that's why the AT Has an MP5, Rockets weren't meant for bunny hunting ;)

Alternatively, time him, and aim at the ground where he's going to land, because you can't control your motion mid jump.

- - Just had a thought. To nerf bunnies, maybe they should just prevent you from firing in mid air, which is pretty much why people don't jump around like that in real life . . .

Yip I sure did along with some DVD's was going to get an mp3 player but nothing in my colour

Just thought i would ask you guys... Was voip a bit screwy last night on the ranked 32 player server? I yelled at some people to do something and then they do the exact oposite. Couldnt figure out why people dont just tell me to go play with myself, but instead just ignored me. You guys also experience this?

PS: Thanks for repeatedly killing me, killadoob... I travel in a group and who does he kill first? yours truly. and in the squad you travel in, its mostly you that kills me :D i'm famous!!!

Hmm... didn't notice any particular problems with VOIP last night. Could be the dude was just ignoring you.

And you killed me a couple of times you bugger ;)
