Battlefield 2

Yes doobkilla Im also not playing anymore until the game is released. The 12min timelimit is a killer.

Did you get your copy killadoob? If you did post like a mini review and what you think about the maps.

Wahoo got my copy last night already!! Here's a short review:

Firstly for those that are used to the old BF games there is one main difference: it doesn't have a Co-Op mode. The days where you and one of your friends choose a couple of maps throw in some bots and start playing are over (maybe). You can only play against bots in the single player game, and only in the 16 player size maps. This is a big thing that really disappointed me since I would have liked to play the 32 and 64 size maps with bots. EA did say though that if the demand is big enough they will include it in a patch.

Another is creating an online account. Most of the time the Alias/nickname you want is already taken. And you can only create one account per e-mail address. This is not a problem more than it is an irritation, but I don't like it. You can still (and probably will have to) use the account you created for the demo.

The 64 player size maps are big. If you don't have transport you gonna "sukkel". Take the map in the demo, double it's size throw in more flags and you know what your looking at. China will also be available to play with now, and contrary to believe there are China vs. USA maps. I didn't have a lot of time to play with it, so the only extra vehicle that I saw was the mobile AA. Lethal to anything that flies. Other extras are missile emplacements for tanks (like the stingers emplacements were for air).

As for gameplay, it's identical to that of the demo. Oh and NO TIME LIMIT YEAH!!!!

Other than the "no co-op thing" this game is brilliant. Go get it already! :D

PS: Found a way to play multi player with your friends with bots in. Start a single player game, and then have your co-op mates go to multiplayer - connect to IP, have them use your IP address and your sorted (but you still will only be able to play in 16 player size maps).

PPS: For those with two ADSL accounts who want to spare their uncapped account: Switch to your uncapped account, start the game, retrieve your online bf2 account, select multiplayer, wait for the servers to pop up, select join ip, type in the ip, THEN ALT TAB, switch back to your capped account, ALT TAB BACK INTO THE GAME, click join and your sorted. This apparently doesn't work for everyone, so don't blame me if it doesn't. :p

Nice mini review Toxin. I hope Dice will include the option of co-op as I will really miss this option.

There were always China vs USA maps...I think there are no MEC vs China maps (i.e USA has to be played in every map)

i am having some issues with occasional lag on the SAIX BF2 server, using ISDN 128k to connect and initially get 80-100 ms ping... then after 5 - 10 minutes of hectic action i start getting slowdown spurs where the pings jumps from 300-1000 ms... is it coz BF2 running 64 players is too much for the ISDN to handle properly?

i suppose i would get better performance in 16 player servers as reccommended in the README file of BF2?

any suggestions to reduce lag would be appreciated as its a flipping great game to have fun on!

thanks!

the saix server isnt workin @ the mo (13.30 22/06)

Some people have had lag on ADSL with 40-50 players. So I think 64 would be pushing the 128k limit to it's limit :p

dang... its something i have to live with i suppose... coz its impossible to find any 16-32 player servers in SA... will try again tonight... i am mostly scared of friendly fire than enemy fire at the moment... trigger happy squadmates... :P

Has anyone else had this problem with BF2 (Fullgame)?

Game installs fine, PC reboots then when I click to start the game - it asks for the cd in the drive - even if it is there.
Even when I click on the launch BF2 block in the autorun menu it asks for the cd.

Help anyone?

Giggle - sounds like you've been sold a FAKE version of the game. Dammit - so soon as well.
I'd send it back, cos chances are that your KEY is going to be invalid as well.

But, if you really want to keep it - goto www.gamecopyworld.com, and find the NO-CD for BF2, and use it. The no-cd program simply stops the game from looking for the CD in the drive, and is a "safe-hack", it does not change the game in any other way.

@QuadDamage :

could it be the copy-protection thats incompatible with your DVD/CD Drive?

check on google to see if your CD/DVD drive has issues with copyprotection software.

Battlefield 2 uses the safedisc copy protection. Like someone mentioned download the cracked no-cd file and replace the origanal. Do you have any virtual cd/dvd rom drives active ie Alcohol 120 or Daemon Tools? I know this could be an issue with copy protection of late.
