Battlefield 2

Hey guys, just purchased the game on the weekend, and been playing with the single player option a bit. Tried last night to connect to a multiplayer server, but after going into multiplayer ... it shows 3 or 4 servers, downloads hectically for about 30 secs, then hangs with no activity on the connection ... can't click on anything, and the game seems to have hung...

And yet I can sign into the gamespy account that I created... I'm on sentech 128k ... any suggestions that I can try here?

SGS BF2 servers # 1 - 196.4.79.20
SGS BF2 servers # 2 - 196.4.79.31
Mweb Gamezone BF2 server - 196.2.45.11
UUDNET - 195.4.17.154

All servers other than UUDNET I know are ranked and all are 64 player servers.

Just connect to an IP address from the main BF2 screen which lists all the servers.

dude you wont be able to play with sentech 128 thats for sure

but when you click on multiplayer screen press ; then hit enter will sort your freezing problem out (thanx mac)

iother 2 are not ranked so dont bother
 
just a quickie while on the subject of BF2 servers... do they allow you to unlock content after you rank up to the necessary rank? ie. some weapons only at a specific rank.

i am talking in regards to the SGS servers, coz when i am entering them they do show GLOBAL UNLOCKS = 0... what does that mean?

Thanx for this info killadoob :) ... I will try tonight and see if I can anyways ... why do you say not on sentech 128? Is it due to the 128k speed or sentech in general? If it is the speed, would 256k or 512k be better? Anybody else using sentech with this? Just would like to find out my options here...

You're playing on an un-ranked SGS server. They set up one today...if you want to play on a ranked server, Global Unlocks must be set to 1. SGS have the following

2 ranked server
1 unranked server
1 demo server
 
gza its because the connection is so spikey.. really kills every chance of a happy gaming experience. I know, I have it and saw the light of low-ping dsl :(

could you list the ranked SGS servers? i was under the impression that the .20 and .31 were ranked servers as i just made it to Lance Corporal last night... hopefully will be able to unlock my weapon of choice tonight.

Well tried it out and it is a bit spikey ... but still playable ... I'm going to get an upgrade to 512 sentech for a few days and test that ... just a little jaded from my previous dsl experience (not the connection .. the provider telkom) so I guess we'll see.

Can't believe I'm thinking of upgrading what seems to be a perfectly decent net connection just for a game :)
 
Your'e upgrading your link?? I am actually getting a link cos of this game... Problem is, by the time Telkom actually install the line, Battlefield 2 will be so old there will be no servers still running... :(
 
i you have a router, pings is no prob,most local games(in the u.k) i get about 4ms ping.
The maximum ping here is 50 since jolt servers are lightnning fast!.www.jolt.co.uk
Register and they might let you play on a anti-lag server.
Even modems get 60ms!:eek:
 
Argggggg...I cant take it no more bf2 is keeeling me. Why is this game so addictive???? Just one more round I HATE IT.
 
unlocked the medic's gun ( L82xx ) as i wasnt sure what to really unlock, its got better accuracy than the M16 while zoomed in and slightly harder hitting power. thought about the .50 caliber M90 ( sniper gun ) but read its power rating only increases against "hard" targets and not "soft" targets.

had a blast last night with a cool squad... great fun!
 
Yes, the .31 & .20 are ranked servers but when it says Global Unlocks = 0 then it's an unranked server. It should be set to "1" if it's ranked.

if that would be the case then i wouldnt be able to unlock any weapons and use them on the SGS servers, right? but other guys have also unlocked andhave new weapons in the game like i do now. And my stats are also listed on global rankings, thus the .20 and .31 servers ARE ranked.

maybe that setting of global unlocks = 0 is actually the ON setting?

at least going up in rank brings up rewards unlike CS:S.... :D
 
Base Jumping

If you are getting bored in BF2 (not likely), then try climbing to the top of one of the towers and jump off and deploy the parachute. Nice view and a quick gettaway for sniper in peril. :cool:
 
BF 2 hang

IS anybody else having problems when selecting multiplayer from the main menu? mine keeps hanging. :( It picks up about 7 servers and then just hangs. :(
