Battlefield 2

I don't think it would be too difficult to see who was on what side. I think it may be more difficult to see someone in the first place. As for friendly fire kills - they are a reality but the game does give a little flag in red or blue. It seems that the friendlies come up a bit quicker than the opfor.

I think the current set of maps are awesome - although I have seen them plenty. I've also noticed tactics evolving over time to deal with each map - but I think there is still room for the subtleties to be exploited.

BTW - is there is set of headphones that gives a really good sense of surround sound. People keep on sneaking up behind - bekruipted from beafter.

I bought the logitech extreme gaming headset... Bloody loud and clear :) and the mic is awesome, nice and comfortable...

PS!! Avoid getting USB headsets. they replace your soundcard. This is often problematic if you playing games with built in VOIP... also, if you have a good sound card, like and audigy, let it do the sound processing, it free's up your CPU. A usb headset could use up to 10% more processor in BF2.

I believe that the surround sound headsets are made by Zalman? but I have also heard that it is a gimic. Apparantly there are 3 speakers per head thingy but just how you are getting 6 channels out of 2 channel jack is an issue - maybe they do connect into you sound card?

I could play with the 5.1 speaker set up but the other half is not really into explosions.

Is the Extreme better than the Precision?

I think the precision is newer and better... costs a bit more... but i didnt care, as they didnt have stock, so i just took the extreme.... more than enough :)

Regarding just 2 channel jack... impossiblet to get true surround sound, unless is uses a digital source, or has a dolby pro-logic (pseudo surround sound) decoder built in... I have my doubts. it should have 3 stereo jacks or a digital input... nothing else makes sense

I see the one you linked has 3 jacks, so sounds awesome... but no mic??? that sucks... you can always get an extra clip on mic... which isnt that great tho'

well i use a cheap aopen headset mic works perfect and sounds is awesome why spend so much on a head set

sound cant be much better

"sound cant be much better"

I have to disagree. sound is at least 20% of my gaming experience, with 30% being graphics & 50% being gameplay...
I got Logitech Z-680 speakers, Creative Live digital card, and Logitech extreme gaming headset....
But this is my opinion :)

well i got on board 5.1 channel with a 5.1 surround

it sounds exactly the same when playing bf 2 with or without speakers

explain to me why a creative 5.1 sound card is better than my onboard?

1) Creative (or any other dedicated decent pci sound card) push out a higher watt signal by far. this Makes your speaker set work less, resulting in a clearer signal with less distortion, especially at high volumes.

2) Creative cards has Hardware level equalizers for bass and treble, making the sounds genuinly richer. The newer cards has a 7 band graphic equalizer.

3) On the Battlefield 2 tweak guide, It was tested that your CPU works 10% less when you have an audigy sound card 5.1 than onboard, as it's SPU (Sound Processing Unit) takes away the channel seperation from the CPU.

4) You will however only notice the improvement if you have a decent set of speakers...

... Sorry, im a bit of an audiophile...

Tell your GF to get headphones for the TV, and you play with full surround speakers.
And - if you actually get that right, tell me how please...

Glad to be of assistance. Share the knowledge...
I only use my headset late at night, when everybody is sleeping, because if u turn down the speaker system, u cant here footsteps or ants walking on your army boots...
During the day, i use the mic of the headset only, and my logitech's take over the explosions :) 500w RMS... bring it on!! BOOOOOM
