Battlefield 2

I think I am going to love this game! Only started playing recently, but whoever was the pilot for the chopper I was gunner for last night on SGS, you rule! He knew how to get my restricted view finder in the right spot every time! Bye bye tanks! LUUUVVEEELY!

Game is dynamic be it a bit hardware hungry. Are tanks really that slow up a hill in real life?

Having an attack chopper pilot that knows how to fly is really great.
 
having an issue with ridiculous TK'ing of late too... city firefights are seriously lethal as everybody is mixed up in the tight streets... so i see an enemy MEC guy amongst our group of USMC and i try to aim correctly and sadly i TK the guy right next to the MEC i killed, even before i revive the so called comrade he TK'ed me... i could have just left him there but my team insticts let him live... its like these CS plebs got PGDWN as their right-mouse button!! :(

Double Yeah!! I finally found time to go to my friend and get some online play-time. Another 9 hours under my belt. Managed to get my sniper, SpecOps and knifing badges. Plus a couple of ribbons too. :)

I love this game.
 
its like when you have fondue and you pull your piece of bread out and there is this sticky thread holding your broodjie back. so you broodjie gets pulled back into the warm fondue and it gets stuck there... for all to see

So are you saying that Tom is talking crap ???.

By all means feel free to send him a cute email to this effect that you from Kraaifontein is the only one in the world who is having a perfect playing experience with BF2.

Your PC behaves absolutely perfectly and you can play the game nonstop for weeks on end with your PC being rock solid stable.

Hey perhaps he will even make you famous and do an article on you :).
 
The problem tom is refering too is related to the 1.01 patch that had system memory leaks, 1.02 patch is flawless and runs so sweet.

So yes, Im telling you, Tom is talking ***.
 
i can atest from my side that i have had fewer glitches with BF2 than with some of the latest non-online games... i agree that BF2 was rushed but the simple experience of playing it online against people is awesome, maybe the only people who cant play BF2 is coz they got old PC's or dial-up accounts... upgrade if you need as BF2 is a great online experience. :)

edit : maybe TOM sucks at FPS games... so who knows? :p
 
firstly: its Aaron, not Tom. There are many people contributing to Tomshardware, and in this case the review was done by Aaron Mckenna. Tibby, you really OWNED me on that one...

secondly: the review is based on performance issues, not on the enjoyment you get out of the game. yes, it does run sluggishly on my system, but only cause it is almost 3 years old. i dont have to restart my pc after each game i play though. did i mention anywhere anything about my pc being super awesome to the extent that a memory leaking game has no effect whatsoever on it? i fear not sir. hey, my nads are itching!!! *scratch*

thirdly: are you a concerned citizen that wishes to inform us of how crap the game is without ever having played it? yes, there are a whole bunch of technical flaws. there are also flaws in human nature (rapists, murderers, <some religious extremists>, etc) yet we still love them. same goes for bf2. its fun.

fourthly: why am i counting this way? couldnt i have just used paragraphs alone?

fifthly: thanks for your contribution, we really appreciate it and will forever remember it.
 
I finally got to play online Friday night, and most of Saturday afternoon. What a blast.
Still haven't decided on my player class preference though.. but I've enjoyed being support.
Will probably play tonight after 19h00-ish.

hmmm, this whole rant was in response to one sentence:
"Have you played it, tibby?"

i fail to see where you get that i said that Tom is talking crap. did you pull that one from a hat or did i forget the disable my subliminal lock on my keyboard again? damn, i always do that.

well, for that matter, the whole thing was just used to provoke a response right? you make stuff up to get a rise out of people. erm, what do you call that again? i forget. i'm quite new to forums and myadsl is the one i use most.

anyhow, for the people who actually PLAY bf2, could you guys recommend an unlock for me? i mostly play with anti tank (i just LOVE taking down them big tanks) but i also enjoy medic. although i like sniping in some games, in bf2 it just feels worthless and destroys the whole team thing. so ja, i basically play with AT and medic... what gun is the best between the two?
 
lol... go easy eye_suc... all this guys wants is attention... simply ignore him and let it be... he doesnt know what he is missing simply because he either cant play BF2 for a few reasons beyong his capacity... ;)

EDIT : the AT unlock is the DAO-12 which is GREAT for close quarters fighting, long range use the pistol. For the Medic you unlock the L85A1 which is a good weapon with nice sniping capabilities with the single-shot...

i play the medic mostly and use that gun to great effect... in my next promotion i want to get the AT unlock and the Support one too... it all depends what kit you enjoy playing the most.

AT needs a better damn automatic weapon, that deafult one really sucks, 20 bullets to kill a top scoring special forces dude - ridiculous.
Medic is medic, runs around healing people and sometimes killing somebody, needs no imprevoement yet.

So - choose a weapon that AT can use.

Now if I paid R299 for a game like that then I would be rather peeved off but this goes beyond having mere whole bunch of technical flaws as you put it but to with EA shipping a known poor quality product in order to make their financials.

Doom 3 and Half Life 2 was finished high quality releases which worked out of the box without the "whole bunch of technical flaws".

I'd rather support those companies that respect me as a gamer rather then coughing up to become a beta tester and waiting for a decent product 2 years down the line.
