Those two games are NOT massively multiplayer like Battlefield 2 is. It's a bit difficult to compare based on that, also considering that Battlefield 2 is intended to be a multiplayer game, with single player as an afterthought, whereas D3 & HL2 were intended to be single player, with multiplayer as an afterthought.

It's NOT comparing apples to apples here.
 
HL2 has STEAM to fix its flaws... DOOM 3 was just a MOD for ID's new engine... BF2 had an engine made from scratch which is quite exemplary if you get to play as a commander, there you truly see how beautiful it really is... the whole battlefield when zoomed in looks like a top-view RTS with all the grunts from both sides slugging it out...

tibby - dont bash those who enjoy the title you dislike. And you still have not told us if you have ACTUALLY played the game or base your opinion on ONE negative comment from a reviewer.

HL2 : STEAM :mad:

DOOM3 : ... the worst sequel ever made

I know perfectly well I may be an exception, but I have had absolutely NO technical problems with BF2, they should just work on the teamkills I get when a jet crashes into the mountain behind me. :p
 
well, bf2 is infinitely more fun than halflife 2. it also doesnt have a linear plot like hl2 has (wel, its more repetitive, but still more fun). and hl2 and doom3 were NOT finished. they have also been patched a few times to fix things that were broken. yes, halflife 2 was awesome graphically, but replay value... erm, not half as cool as bf2 online

oh, bf2 also works out of the box. they tweaked the game with patch 1.01 and THAT stuffed up the game. only for a short while though...

to the rest:
hmmm, still cant decide... i have so many kills with that crappy AT machine gun. you just have to be very close i suppose. i'm afraid of getting a gun that sucks worse than the current one. oh well, if all else fails ill just get a new account :P

damn, gonna give the medic one a go... YEAH!!! gonna blast some teamies tonight...

useless: hehe, did i lose my cool badly? anyhow, its so fun debating with tibby cause you know you always win :)

mmwwaahhhaaa!!!! CS is for headshot junkies who camp with AWP's... come to BF2 and you will see what survival is on a REAL battlefield... lol!

in BF2 you can see straight away who comes from CS since they bunny hop around the map... tsk tsk...

tibby - when you decide to be serious about gaming get BF2... for now stick to CS for your own sake as you wont survive for too long in BF2... :D

Using it on dialup .... you must be mad :).

I like the STEAM concept myself as a way of making small game companies independent and stop them from being swallowed up by big distributors like EA.

Remember what happened to Westwood after EA got them ???.

I liked it but agreed that they really need to jack up their game design.
Look at how good Castle Wolfenstein turned when the collaborated with decent game design folks (Grey Matter).

Quake 4 (Raven) looks more promising in that dept :).

man, thats priceless. i have yet only encountered 2 children (under the age of 16) playing bf2. if you however attend almost any LAN (lets use Organized Chaos as a case in point) its mostly, and i mean by far the greatest majority, the kiddies who play CS. Why? hehehe, please answer us tibby.

i dont play bf2 for eyecandy. my pc is running it on lowest detail on everything. so it must be because i am young!

Is it just me, or does BF2 take a helluva long time to sign in to the account server when you start the game?
 
it does take a while, but try it with a capped account and you will be happy. :)

depends on traffic but its usually 20-30 secs for me... that is if EA doesnt have issues with their servers... :rolleyes:
 
And that whole damn blerrie "EA GAMES" + "DICE" advert that is shoved down your throat every time you launch (40 seconds worth of crap) - that really pisses me off.

But - loggin into the Server after it asks you for your login + password, takes about 10 seconds for me.
 
Tibby's just jealous because he can't play BF2.

I had ADSL installed just to play BF2 (used Skype as an excuse for the missus ;) ) and I am 110% happy that I did.

Further on the weapon upgrade question anyone know a site with a good discussion around the different upgrades?

I fixed this by simply renaiming the extensions of the movie files in your mods directory.

Now I simply load right into the login screen. WOOT!!!

do not call bf 2 crap and say ea rushed it

yes there where problem and still are but the amazingness of game itself far outweight the problems

so until you play and get addicted keep you opinions and opinions of other ppl away from this thread

go post on bf2 is bad havent played it though.

bf2 is the greaest game ever created and nothing will ever top bf 2 in opinion except for bf 3 4 5 6 7 etc

and yes that tom guy is talking crap in a big way

maybe he likes roleplaying games and review a fps? who knows

all i know is if i review WOW i would say it is crap because i dont enjoy that sort of stuff

sorry if i seem rude i just hear ppl saying bf 2 has so many problems and it annoys me because i love the game so much :)

What annoys me.....

Is the fact that I can't stop playing this game!!!!

I have all these other games installed, nagging about how much time I'm spending with bf2, and they don't get any more attention ... blah blah blah, and how I never buy them any flowers etc etc.

But I can't hear my other games moaning as my headset is on and I'm sending orders to my squad!!!
 
same here... even WoW is waiting for more of my input and i am freaking paying for that game... ouch...
