Battlefield 2

Chewed bandwidth - Friday night 4 of us played through my ADSL link from around 7 to 1. A friend of mine played from about 10 on Saturday until 3 on Sunday morning with 3 of his friends. Looking at the stats meter I semed to have consumed about 1.5 GB on a 512 link in 5 hours. He used about a GB in 17 hours on a 384 (?) link.

Strange that he used way less than me - okay it's not a true scientific study, they may have stopped for lunch or whatever. Still. Any thoughts?

And thank goodness for local. I have no international bandwidth left and we are only half way through October.

That's just so . . . well . . .rude! I know it's not an RPG but, I'd like to stay just a tiny bit in character ;)


Speaking of which, (totally off topic) I tried out Guild Wars this weekend. I can't say I'm impressed or anything. The graphics are purrdy but after an hour I was bored.
 
yeah i know its rude but i dont like playing Sniper and thus its the easiest way to get the badge... :D

i have also been of GW and cancelled my WoW sub. Playing DoW:WA online and DS2 as well.
 
Yea was some great BF2 action, although I got my ass kicked by some snipers!!! $%#@!! Great fun!
 
Useless, how is DOW:WA? I'm dying to get it, but I'm waiting for the "Gold bundle" I don't have a copy of DoW any more :P

Where do you play, are there peering servers?

the whole tech tree is changed but its fun and the new units make a big difference, as well as the Imperial Guard adds a different gameplay aspect to the game. I play on the Gamespy Online Lobby but you can also host and join direct IP games.

i have to add online opponents in DoW:WA are quite ruthless at times... :o
 
ummm yea some ppl think these tank guys are awesome players because of their big scores

they dont think o but they in a tank all the time

outta tank are they as amazing as ppl say?

personally i dont care what you do in bf 2 i just dont like how everyone goes ooooooooooo aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa this person is so good look they are number 53 in the world or whateva when all they do is use armour.
 
lol... killa... i can say the same about maps where there are no choppers or fighter jets... some top-ranked players just suck being grunts... :P

but anyways, i am in for the fun now and on the lookout for good squads... yet over the weekend some servers had no VOIP and were laggy... :(
 
I like setting myself little goals - like badges or ribbons, I'm keen to get basic ordenance, and still need to get basic engineer and medic, but it's definitely more fun just playing with a good bunch of guys.

i must say the jets are most unfair i get a tank start to drive away and boom dead every time so now i just take a buggy to where i want to be and jump out but still i a buggy i have been bombed and the AA is of no use you can wait till the plane is just in front of you and still no connection from the missles oh well maybe the next patch
 
/me wonders what the deal with VOIP is. It's really annoying typing - ll therz a tnak behind yu - and by the time u've pressed enter it's too late, and then everybody turns around and it's a beeg stuffup and - cmon - u've spoilt us with VOIP - now you cannot turn it off.
/me supposes that tweaking will happen till perfection is achieved.
/me wonders what the IS gaming environment is going to be like.

Couldnt agree more. Im a grunt, i love playing on foot, running with a fun squad. the other night i was in an APC, just covering my team while they took on a flag... I killed 10 enemies by just point and clicking.
Alot of these "L33T" top players suck when they on foot.... And sitting in armour, spawn r@ping or whatever is just a lame way to get stats...
STATS SUCK!!!

PS. Join the TW or ATD squad with me and Zoidberg... we let anybody in, and we play old school war squad, on foot, in cars, just for fun. and we usually do quite well if u are into stats and that crap :)
 
i did have Zoidberg in my squad on Saturday night but coz of VOIP i think he moved servers or i got ATB'ed... but will be on the lookout for the TW or ATD squad... thanks! :D

LOL! i left with him to the other server... our squadplay MUST have VOIP... u should have migrated with us man... anyways, look out for either of us...

so it was you ngr_wp... lol... will be on the lookout when do BF2 then... i did some crazy buggy driving here... blowing my horn since VOIP wasnt werking... :p
 
u think no voip is bad, i had some dude on my side that didn't have his speakers on cause his mom wasn't sposed to know he was playing or something! its like "hop in", "get in" x50 , and the dude just keeps running infront of the apc! i'm sending bullets whizzing past his head and he still doesn't click!



had a bit of a die hard moment!
took a mec jet and went flying to the enemy carrier to do some harm, got in a bit of a dog fight and did the painstaking thing of pushing the "E" button mid flight, weee, and i parachute into the water, now not wanting to suicide myself i decide to swim to the carrier, get there after about 3 minutes, climb ontop and decide to lay some c4 around so i can blow someone up, anyway busy laying c4 and some dudes spawn so i pull out my gun and shoot them both, then a plane spawns so i steal it, back in the air now, in another dog fight, trying to lose the guy tailing me and i end up in the alititude too high bermuda triangle thingy where you can't come back down, get that little "where are you going soldier, you will be shot junk", so i think to myself, "oh well this is it" but wait, there's still that c4 i left on the deck about 6 minutes ago, so i bail out the plane, my life bar is decreasing now due to me being out of bounds, pull parachute, pull out c4 detonator and flip the switch and kill 3 guys that were on the carrier .

That map that's like a swamp - no VOIP - sprint up to flag in Jeep - see C4 allover the place - run to furest reaches where flag is still gotten. Type - "C$ - get back" as team command, this bloke walks up to the C4 and looks at it - I type "C4" to team, he bends down has a close look - flag goes white - BOOM - I' type - "Idiot" to team. We capture flag - this guy spawns, walks behind me and starts shooting me with the medic's gun.

ROFL - best TK + Punish i've ever earned - ever. I hope he learnt something there.

P.S. We need to be able to VOIP with the nearest person. So I could have called him an idiot to his face as well (If VIOP was working of course).

YEAH i agree if you are like 5 meters from someone or less and they use there VOIP then you should be able to hear it to that goes for enemy as well not that you could get that close to an enemy

or even if you can see someone and lock on then then you could use VOIP too enemy included so many times i sneak up to someone and wish i could say "Boo" just before plugging him with a few round :D
