Battlefield 2

i went home.... and got it... and now it WON'T reinstall, just dies during installation!
 
ok, after ,much registry deleting, i now have it installing again!
 
do i need to do the latest patch after install special forces and bf2 on a clean install?
 
Hmm, got 2 unlocks last night for free. I assume It's for SF, so fighting the temptation not to get the m92, I got the SCAR-L and f2000.

My menu loads are tanking a bit, but not having 2Gb of RAM, the difference isn't that acute. Using the favourites list takes care of the biggest lag.

Install BF2. Don't patch it! Install SF. Then apply 1.12 patch!

Everything should run smoothly.

Ahem....mine worked just fine with install SF and the repatching afterwards :rolleyes:

EA bug 29 zillion 666 million 666 thousand point idiot . dumb programmer...

Cause: Install on a windows XP pro machine, on an admin user, logged onto a domain!

Result: Go home, run local admin user, stupid game does not recognise CD-key!!!!

Workaround: Log into domain admin user that you installed with and run with that

Solution: Insert bf2 cd1, goto \support\cd-key.exe thingy, re enter cd key, do the same for special forces, then you can play again!

Sigh - the whole security policing with induvidual profiles per logins on a PC just causes k@k.
Methinks EA should apologise to everybody and release a user manual for the game as well.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
 
user manual?

do you still get that with games? the last one i got in over 2 years was with Civilization IV... quite amazed it didnt come bundled in a PDF file ala EA style.
 
What you guys talking about?

There were honest-to-goodness printed manuals (crappy tho they are) for both BF2 and SF.
 
the BF2 "manual" is as good as a mug cover... it had not specs on weapons, vehicles, armor, maps, etc... i dont know about the SF manual but i wasnt impressed with the BF2 cheapo...
 
Aha. But that's why they want you to buy the 'Official Strategy Guide'!
